Hi everyone , since i started Klonopin , i have these things called extrasystoles . Sometimes i feel my heart kicking harder than normal , hard enough to scare me . Just 1 single kick , then it goes back to normal . I wonder if anyone else on Klonopin has these extrasystoles ? My doctors says that the cause is not the Klonopin , but i doubt it .

Thank you . I have them like once in a couple of days ,it's not regular , just a single strong kick , and always after the Klonopin kicks in . And i thought it was all in my mind , but i know when they will come , it starts like a emotion in the stomach , then the kick . So last time i felt that i put my hand on the chest and actually felt it . It was a strong kick . Damn scary . And i have noticed that if i lower the dosage , they don't come anymore .

And i know that the doctor knew this , because he gave me Propranolol too , to be taken together with Klonopin . I think he knew that and he wanted to avoid the extrasystoles or other problems . But he lied to me . I have found infos on FDA's website , and yes , clonazepam side-effects can be of cardiovascular nature too .

What does Klonopin do compared to Xanax and propranolol? What is the difference?

Klonopin is primarily used in epilepsy , but they are prescribing it for anxiety related problems too . Xanax belongs to the same class of drugs called benzodiazepines , but it was created especially for anxiety and panic and sometimes depression . Propranolol is something totally different , it belongs to a different class of drugs called beta-blockers , but Propranolol and Atenolol are non-selective betablockers . This means that they block the adrenaline receptors in the entire body , unlike the cardioselective betablockers that are blocking the beta rece[tors founded only on the heart . As anxiety and panic are causing adrenaline rushes , tachycardia , maybe even irregular heart rate , propranolol and atenolol were a big help . Cardioselective betablockers are indicated in cardiovascular problems , but the non-selective ones are used in many situations , even for person with stage fright , fear of speaking in public , anxiety , panic attacks and so on . Klonopin is like a distant cousin of Xanax . They are alike but very different in the same time . I had no problems with Xanax , ever , but i have a lot of problems with Klonopin . But this is individual , we are unique , every person has it's own chemistry and it's unique response to different meds .

Your description of the kick in the back - that sounds more like you are getting into difficulty with blood clotting. I had that back in 1986. It could be very serious. You might want to ask your doctor about chacking for blood clots. The test is a simple blood test.

It's a kick in the chest , Raoul , it feel like a single heart beat is stronger than others . Klonopin is a blood thinner so it might have a connection to this .
