I started having panic attacks 23 yrs ago. Also, anxiety attacks, along with depression. I am on meds, but sometimes, it seems as if they don't help me. In the beginning, i went for counseling for many many years. I don't know why i keep having these problems, and i get very discouraged about it.

I completely understand ChatterBox. I have been dealing with panic, anxiety, and depression issues over 20 years myself. You are correct about using meds to treat/manage these conditions over a long period of time. The meds, esp benzodiazepines, become less and less effective over time. They will often just completely quit working and then you are left with horrible withdrawal issues to struggle with.

What meds are you currently taking? What are the worse sx's for you? Can you exercise at all or does the anxiety make this impossible? Have you ever tried to meditate?

For many anxiety people we find that in time anxiety medicatons cause what they are given for and in my case it was a hundred times worse than my original anxiety

WORST decision of my life...but who knew?

Seeking therapies to help can be very frustrating. There needs to be some kind of definitive test (hopefully some day a DNA one) that indicates which therapy(ies) will work for whom. I pray for that day.
My main leadership role is to listen, encourage, and keep the peace....It isn't to give medical or legal advice...Please note...I am not a Doctor...nor an expert...I am here for the same reason all of you are...to receive and give encouragement.

Hi Chatterbox

I went thru a combination of treatments (CBT, medicine, acupuncture, meditation). They helps a lot especially meditation and CBT. You might want to give it a try.

Best Wishes to you
