MDJunction to me

aTinaL"To me, Mdjunction comes down to motivation. The support and information I have found here motivated me to take a very proactive stance regarding my illness. This led me to find medication and doctors that are giving me my life back.
More important than even the motivation, though, is the friendship I have found at MDJ. I have made some of the best friends of my entire life right here in this group. Even though most of us have never met, it feels as if we have known each other for years.
If Angels walk among us, and I believe that they do, most of them are here at MDJ.

I don't know if anyone ever experienced this but I'm embarrassed to write this. I get scared and anxious whenever I'm physically sick. And not about a longterm illness at present but tonight, I felt so nauseaus but I was afraid to throw up. I asked myself why and my answer was I was afraid I'd never stop if I started. I always get scared when I'm nauseas the most but also when I get sick at any given time. I feel scared and don't know what to do with myself. I'm ashamed of this fear or phobia, whatever it is. I guess it's a weird association to dying if that makes any sense to anyone. I find myself so alone and it scares me to be alone and be sick.

I feel afraid when I get sick too. I am always afraid that my illness whether it is a cold or a virus is really something awfully bad that will end up killing me. I intellectually know that it is stupid to feel this way but I always do. I had a stomach virus a couple weeks a go and was so afraid it would lead to something else but of course it did not.

Yeah, that seems to be the case with me too. I was sick to my stomache all last night and today. I finally called my doctor because I have chronic acid relux too and it got so bad. I don't usually call but today I felt the need. He told me to take some tums. The burning and naseusa subsided and now it's coming out the other end. But I was getting worried, it could be something more serious. Seems like I always go down that road of maybe it's more serious. Lends to my fears of dying I suppose.

Hi

Fobias are thoughts based on unrealistic beliefs. However, that being said, who knows where the basis of this came from. We see and interprut things as children and it explains to us the hows and whys of the world. Maybe at sometime in life you saw or heard about something that made you think that if you voited you might die. You've consciously forgotton but the memory is stored.

Yes, the memory has been stored somewhere back in my childhood but has reemerged more so, since the death of my mom 2 and a half years ago. Feeling better today, at least until the next time I get sick. So much to work on in counseling. I could be going for life but not so bad if it's helping, I suppose.

I only have a few of those yet I my one good friend has it bead where he takes amoxacillin every time he's sick. When I have panic attacks sometimes I feel i'm going to faint or just collapse and that scares me, so I think one of these days it will greatly affect my heart and kill me.

Panic attacks where you feel like you might collapse must be scary. I have heard though, that panic attacks don't kill. However, stress can kill I believe so there is a mind body connection. I hate the anxiety I feel, the thoughts race, my heart feels heavy and tight and I feel nauseus alot. Feeling like that now. I get so darn frustrated with the anxiety, I just want to scream!

Hi all

Sunshine - you might want to check the panic out at the panic attack support group. Nice to meet you. That fear for the heart and being killed - that is classic panic attack symptoms. You can get some great help with that.

When I get a stomach ache - I usually pass out - it is a trigger for me. So when I have any sort of stomach involved cold - it is a certainty, that sooner or later I am going to pass out. This started when I was 5 years old. My dad came at me and wanted to pop a small pimple I had on my chin. Well, I passed out on the spot, and have ever since whenever I get scared in that way.

Rach - imagine if you had my problem. wow.

Raoul

Some meds may help you sunshine with the anxiety and panic. I like to do some slow breathing techniques when get worked up. Yesterday, I felt so anxious I had to leave my house imediately. You know when you get that feeling you have to escape the surrounding. I call it change my scenery and distract myself.

Ray, geez pass out from a stomache ache? Wow, I'm just scared to place you head near the toilet bowl and puke my guts out. Afraid I'll never stop. The whole thought of it, smell of it everything, Yuk!

What you passed out when your mom popped a pimple? Ray, that's funny! LOL, Rachele
