MDJunction to me

aTinaL"To me, Mdjunction comes down to motivation. The support and information I have found here motivated me to take a very proactive stance regarding my illness. This led me to find medication and doctors that are giving me my life back.
More important than even the motivation, though, is the friendship I have found at MDJ. I have made some of the best friends of my entire life right here in this group. Even though most of us have never met, it feels as if we have known each other for years.
If Angels walk among us, and I believe that they do, most of them are here at MDJ.

I have been having trouble posting, so hopefully this topic is not here multiple times...

My name is Denise. I live in North Dakota. In October 2010 I was found to have a large clot in the subclavian vein in my right arm. Luckily they were able to remove the clot. After 17 tubes of blood, 2 head CTs and chest x-rays, they determined that I had APS. I was back in the hospital again in December 2010 because they thought I had another clot in my subclavian vein. Turned out to be scar tissue. I take coumadin and aspirin and they want my INR to be between 2.0-3.0. For me, APS comes with lots of worries. Is my blood too thin, am I having symptoms of bleeding?; Is my blood too thick, am I having symptoms of clots?? Every little symptom has me thinking the worst.

Well, enough of my droning on, thanks for reading. Take care.

Hi Denise and welcome to the group. With APS you have "sticky blood" and that makes you prone to clots. An INR of 2.5 is where they want people with APS, unless you had a problem at that stage, then they may try to have your INR a little higher.

I had my first stroke about 15 years ago. I have more problems some from lupus, some from APS but right now, I am doing OK. I am willing to share my experiences if you have any questions.

Alison
