Hello,

My name is Annette. I am a 37 year old who has had two MIs due to prinzmetal angina. Actually today marks my one year anniversary of my first one. I am depressed. I also have Fibromyalgia and lupus. Will this chest pain ever end? There are days where It comes on strong and I fight to go to the hospital. I am looking for a support group who will understand what I am going through since I feel no one else does. I can't sleep I have insomnia very bad which of course makes the pain worse as well. it just seems like a never ending cycle

Anyone else out there have this same issue?

Hi Annette,

My son who is 26 years old has recently been diagnosed with Prinzmetal Angina. He has been hospitalized 32 times in the past 5 years. Since he is always in the hospital he has not been able to work and therefore has no insurance. So, the doctors just treated him at the hospital and would just release him. Before he has the actual attack he is in severe pain for several weeks, and then afterwards it takes him several weeks to recouperate. So it is a cycle.

I would be curious to see how you were diagnosed and what they said you should do about it.

Thanks,

Kathy

I am so sorry to hear about your son and I can relate completely. I have had two heart attacks. I was lucky to have found a great Cardiologist who figured out what was going on with me after and angiogram. I still have not been able to control the pain. There are days it is worse and days (minimum) where I don;t feel any chest pain. I tend to be hard headed and I will not go to the hospital even though I have taken twelve nitros. Its stupid and I don;t recommend you do what I do. Sounds like your son is smart and is going to the hospital. I am permanent disabled approved by the state thank God. Has your son applied for that? Also I take so many medications. What is your son taking? I am glad I have someone who has what I have because it is so rare that at times I feel like I am going crazy. Life changes drastically after you get diagnosed. I don't drive because I am afraid of having a heart attack on the road. Since I can't control them its hard to go out and about because you never know when you won't feel well. I would recommend your son apply for government assistance. Do you have a good cardiologist? If not go for second and third opinions. I hope this helps and feel free to contact me anytime. My email address is tikilands@gmail.com Take care and best wishes to your son
