Hey There my friends, I just wanted to start a list of resources that I have used to grow in my spiritual walk with Christ and as I have learned to work through my anger issues. I have found all these books on Amazon.com I am still working on them. And praise God He is still working on me. My 7 year old daughter has a CD with a song called he's still working on me. It is one of my favorites. I will start with my favorite resource and my manual to live my life by, God's precious word, The Bible. Life Application Study Bible, I prefer the ESV (English Standard Version) or the NASB (New American Standard Version, which is the one our church uses, probably why I like it) the NIV (New International Version) is my least favorite version the KJV (King James Version) has alot of thous and th at the ends of many words the NKJV (New King James Version) takes out out the thou and th endings, so it is not a bad version to use the NLT (New Living Translation) is great if you have never read the Bible, but the word can be alot different than the above mentioned, like the NIV, But I like it much better than the NIV. There is also the amplified Bible which has great explainations of the Bible verses. I don't have one so I am not sure exactly what it is like. It sounds like it is like the Life Application Study Bible, which I mentioned at the top. I also own a Soul Care Bible. I believe it is what they call a devotional Bible. There are so many out there. Sometimes you are better off with the plain old Bible. I have a travel Bible that I can fit in my purse. It is nice and small, some people need large print and they make those Bibles too. The soul care Bible really helped me when I was struggling with my emotions and did not read the Bible daily. The index really helped me to find devotions that went along with the passages. It relates to alot of emotional issues, such as abortion, abuse, accountability, addictions, adolescent development, adolescent problems, adultery, aging/elderly, anger, anxiety, and those are just the A topics and depression, of course. Now I just use it as an occasional reference. I really use the life application study Bible to interpret God's word. It really helps. Uprooting Anger by Robert D. Jones I Really Want to Change So Help Me God by James MacDonald I have not read all of these books mentioned below yet: When People are Big and GOd is small by Edward T. Welch Love to Eat, Hate to Eat by Elyse Fitzpatrick Don't Strike the Rock by Tom Crouse This one was written by my pastor, so I had to add it on the list. He is an awesome Godly man. He was not always. His testimony is amazing. Full of sin, but God used him just like He can use all of us!!! Well for moment that is all. I just wanted to post it. I will try to get more websites on there that I have found useful besides the 9marks.org |
