MDJunction to me

jayna01"My name is Jayna and I wanted to take this opportunity to say how much MDJunction has meant to me. I always felt so alone before I joined in April of 2012. I felt like there wasn't anyone that really cared about me and what I was going through. I felt like there was no one that would truly listen to me in what I was feeling. Nobody was there for me. That is before I found MDJ!

I have found and met such good people on these forums. I never ever knew there were such compassionate people before MDJ. It's also nice to know that I can come here anytime and get support for what I am feeling. I feel like I have met some wonderful life long friends. It is also an outlet for me to try and help other people that are hurting. It gives me a good feeling inside and gives me self confidence in helping other people.

I hope MDJ will be as good for you as it has been for me! Many Blessings and Much love.

I am finding my mom is eating out of boredom. I have been encouraging her to write down what we have for lunch and the time we ate..An hour later she has 4 cookies in her hand and is ready to grab a cinnamon roll..I was wondering if this is a normal process for her condition...The days are getting longer and her preference is to sit and look out the window...Sunny days are better....

Yes, a lot of people with AD forget that they have eatten and will just keep eatting. Some will forget to eat or insist that they have already ate. If your mom is not overweight I wouldn't worry a whole lot. She will need the extra pounds latter when it becomes hard for her to eat. Smile

Mom is not heavy at all we walk about a mile a day and we bring in our wood for the fireplace...I think she gets more exercise from watching baseball...she actually wrecked the arm of a chair with a potato peeler, (I was about 10 years old)...her story is she was encouraging a runner from 2nd to 3rd...Thanks for listening it really means a lot..

Sounds like your mom and my husband would make a pair,LOL! He almost had a heart attact one time watching the world series, had to take 3 nitroes to stop the pains.

Talk away, that is what we are here for, to support eachother. Part of support is listening and being able to express ourselves. Smile

I'm not computer savey enough to give you the link so....click on Alzheimer's Support Forums at the top of this page. Then click on Medicine & Treatments. I have penned up the stages at the top of the page. Smile I turn on Little House On The Prairie for hubby nearly every day. He sometimes gets pretty mad at Nelly though. The other day he started to hit the TV and I stopped him, he was wanting to hit Nelly.LOL He laughs a lot too though at the things they get into. Smile

Little house nellie does that to us all...I must share this thought with you ...mom said "I can hide the easter eggs and later on go looking for them since I won't remember where I put them"...Today we are making potato salad and picking daffodils... It is raining on the peninsula and sort of dreary...we will go to the park and watch children hunting eggs...It feels so good to have someone to share like experiences with..Bunny hops to you all

Oh, Maryjo, I love the idea of being able to hide the eggs and look for them later. Great to have a sense of humour.....

Hi maryjo

My Mom also likes to eat all the time. If we let her she'd eat a whole bunch of banana's and probably 4 or 5 oranges within an hour. I have to hide the food - bananas are in the oven right now.

I like to put muchies out for her like peanut butter on crackers that way as she walks by (she walks alot) she can grab something to eat.

It sounds like your Mom has a great sense of humor about the Alzheimer's. That's awesome; enjoy it.

Happy Easter Egg Hunting!

Cindy

Cindy thanks so much for sharing...mom has been my taste tester today since I made 3 salads...Yogurt has worked well for us and it is new to her as she is 90 years old and lived a meat and potato life...I often make a big bowl of natural popcorn and it helps with her munchies...I also know where she is as she leaves a trail of popcorn behind her...Also today we bought Bubbles at the store its one of her fun things to do..it makes her laugh
