The following are some suggestions for caring for a person with alzheimers.

)Create a calm setting.

)eliminate clutter, noise, glare, too much background noise.

)develop soothing rituals with regular daily routines, comforting objects, gentle music, and a refreshing touch.

)provide opportunities for exercise and satisfying activities geared to persons' abilities.

)be sensitive to frustration about expressing wants or needs.

)rather than arguing or disagreeing, redirect the persons' attention.

)simplify tasks or routines

)avoid open-ended questions. Use yes/no questions

)allow enough rest in between activities.

)use labels or cues to remind the person with alzheimers

)put safety locks on doors
