Wow..Thank you very much. I have to try AA. I don't why I have not mustard up the courage to attending one. I think I would be intimated but I won't know till I try it. I had a major relapse last night and I woke up feeling very guilty and sad. I felt vulnerable, lonely, and scared. So.. I will seek online to find where there will be one in my area. Thank you all for encouraging words.

You are ready for AA. You know you have a problem and desire to quit. Thats the only requirement for AA.
You are not drunk unless you have to hang on while lying on the floor.

Julie, i applaud your thinking of going to AA. It's a very good idea. But please take it as a stepping stone toward sobriety. Not an end-all-be-all. AA can get you thinking about higher power and how difficult it is to quit. And how wonderful it is to quit. But if your first meeting is not to your liking, please don't give up! Not all meetings are alike. And there are other options, especially being a woman (there are groups just for women even outside of AA) - so take a small step, huray. take another step if the first doesn't quite make you feel comfortable. bless you all the way

longroadgal right. don't judge AA till you have been to a few differnt meetings. Rememember many there are still"sick". Try to stick to people that have several years of sobriety.

Yes, for me I looked for several meetings, went to them and found some that worked for me. It's a program of action. Folks who just attend a meeting and don't do "the deal" are. It successful. I like my new way of life, and don't want to ever go back, and AA was a big part of that.

Well, everyone.. I hear you all. I failed yesterday and did have a couple.. ONLY a couple. I called a hotline today so they can tell me how to go about going into a meeting and not feeling intimidated. He told me to let them know I was new so they can talk directly to me and they can tell me stories about how they overcame drinking. I will update you all as soon as I get out. After that call.. I knew for sure I was feeling better and knowing I wanted to start a new of life. I told my friend.. The July calendar on my wall is empty and white... to me that is a clean slate that this month is my month. I will do and I will be on MDJ every night to make sure that I stay on this path. I've fought every year, every month to quit drinking, I lost my relationship to alcohol and now I'm going to fight back. Thank you everyone for the encouraging words and the push to go to AA. I promise to update you all.

I went to my first class... And what an experience and a welcoming. They all told their stories but right before they began, they told me welcome to AA. One man spoke directly to me about his experience, another spoke about how his friends bagan to disappear cause he no longer belonged in the "group" cause he quit drinking, and another spoke about how he let the best of him get to him and failed. They all had different stories and they showed me proof that AA is the greatest program to ever happen to them. I walked in and they handed me an envelope with female numbers on them just in case I felt the urge to drink or needed to talk about drinking. It was really a relief and I felt good
