I'm new to this group but I am a member of the support group for cirrhosis. I have a question. I have been sober for a year. Why did I never experience alcohol withdrawal symptoms? I drank quite heavily for a long period of years.

Hi barbo,

Welcome to the group. You are very lucky. The withdrawl I experienced landed me in the hospital/detox centers at least 15 times. Maybe your body handeled it better. The funny and interesting thing is that I didn't drink for very long either but became addicted very quickly.

If it didn't happen-- don't worry about it. The pain from withdrawl was bone-crushing for me and I've heard many others stories that were similar.
