Thats a good reason to quit. When I was 300 pounds(5'8")and drinking I looked like a slob. Probably smelled like one too. I quit drinking and went back to the gym. I lost 70 pounds in about 4 months. I could not even tie my shoes without gettin out of breath. I kickboxed for years while sober and my fighting weght was 180 at 40 years old. I was in the best shape of my life. Then I relapsed and gained the 70 pounds in 13 years of drinking.I am happy to say I am sober today and enjoying life without alcohol.

I too gained massive weight through drinking. I was always naturally muscular framed so my perfect weight was around 12 stone. During my early Forces days this started to creep up and up and became harder to shift. I'd get shipped to the middle east for 4 months and come back ripped. Then I'd go back down the bar and back into old habits putting every ounce back on and more. Since quitting alcohol January this year I've lost 24lbs and still going down. Mind you, my liver ain't in the best shape so perhaps this has contributed!

If the fight goes to the ground I can fight because I am also a grappler. I ussually put them in a choke holdtill they pass out. It is safe if you know what you are doing. We are going off topic and need to go back to the topic...just to let you know grasshopper.

Lol. Yeah, I did kinda steer of course a wee bit. Back to the topic. Motivation to stay sober! I have 2 main motivations. No 1. Don't want to injure my already fragile liver more. No 2. My 2 year old will never have a single memory of his daddy holding a drink!

Waking up in the morning without that sludgy feeling in your veins and stomach and head is something to work towards. It feels so good every time. I try to motivate myself with that thought when I am drinking and trying to stop.
