MDJunction to me

jenniferdiva"MDJunction has been just an amazing support for me. The people who are on mdj are so nice! Unlike the many other support sites that I have been on. I have made several friends on mdj who are so supportive and so educated about mental illness. Of course non of us are doctors, but we certainly offer each other hugs, opinions, and advice. I have learned a great deal from my friends on mdjunction. I am also encouraging other people who suffer from mental illness to come on to MDJ. It can be a life line." (jenniferdiva)

Some crazy stuff happened Thurday night and all weekend I was in a fog. Yesterday morning I woke up and threw out the booze! I'm done with it. This time for good. I don't want to end up like my mother or father. Wish me luck!

Good luck! You can do it. Not becoming our parents is a difficult task, but necessary. You have a great support system here and we will all help you in any way we can.

Hang in there, one minute, one hour, one day at a time... You can do this. Smile

Good luck slamm! Throwing out the booze is a good first step. Just remember that this is NOT a mind over matter disease. It is a disease of the brain that even the most intelligent person cannot out-smart.

I've found it very necessary to be in a recovery type environment at least for the first 6 months to a year. My recovery was in an AA meeting 4-5 times per week...1 hour a day. It's important to be around others with the same challenges in life to overcome together.

Thanks guys! Andy, I am scheduled for therapy in the next few weekd and I know that it will help tremendously. Most of my drinking stems from all of the other problems and feelings that I have been harboring. I'm so excited to get there and start living again!

Oh, I wanted to ask all of you also if you have anything yummy for outdoors summer drinks? No more beer so I am looking for a substitute. I love lemonade but sometimes it is just too sweet! I need some new concoctions Smile

Well that's great about the therapy...let us know how it goes. You may want to look into group support...that's the most successful way.

As for yummy drinks...make iced tea and squeeze a big huge juicy orange in it..you'll love it!

oooh that does sound yummy! I make sun tea all the time so that would be great. I always do lemon, but that'll be a nice change of pace. Thanks!

Good luck, Jenny. It is really one day at a time. Try doing it one day at a time. And I'm with Ange and think that group support is a great way to go, AA is my group of choice. I also go to therapy but therapy won't keep me sober, AA will. Good luck on all your choices.

I made it through my first hurdle! Thursdays are usually my drink for 16 hours day. I didn't have one drop. My husband is very proud at my will power and it was wonderful to wake up feeling good. Normally I'd still be in bad at this time, and I've already cleaned the house, ran errands, did some laundry. I feel great!
