I just thought I would mention that I have watched a couple of the PTSD videos that are listed with this group. I found them to be informative, but short of course. Maybe as a group we can also find videos that will help us. Please feel free to add any videos or sites that you find, that you think will be helpful, to this thread.

Here are the two that I've watched that have been listed with the site. Check them out....it will be less than 6 minutes of your time.

Thank you for starting this thread Wendy.

PTSD Facts video: I watched this one and it was like seeing myself. Especially the one where they are playing Apples to Apples and the kid is sitting looking out the window. Just a blank look. I would have sat with my back towards the couch though. I have an unrealistic fear of someone coming up from behind me. It's odd because I don't understand why I have that fear. When I was assaulted it was from the front not the back. Hm? something that I need to explore in therapy

Treatment For PTSD video: There were some treatment options that might help me, especially the virtual reality. When I was assaulted...the spot, the hallway. I left myself there or at least who I used to be. I will not ever ever....ever go back there physically. Unfortunately I go back there during flashbacks, nightmares, etc. The area invades my peace of mind. It has been 3 years and I still have overwhelming emotions that flood me if I try to talk about it...like right now...so, I slowly back away.

I agree Kayla. I have been looking at videos this morning and found a couple that I really like.

This one appears to be done by someone who is not in the psychiatric field, but by someone who also suffers from PTSD. I thought it would be good to see a video done by someone who deals with PTSD.

I found this one interesting.

This one is short, but I found it to be very informative in the sense that he is spot on with what he is saying.

This one is about setting up boundaries.

This is about 7 minutes, but is a good video. There are some client testimonials in this video that may be triggering to some, so just be careful.

Here is another video with statistics about children that have been witness to and experience domestic violence. They have a higher rate of experiencing adult depression

Here is another one! In this webcast Dr. Frank Ochberg discusses how he helps his PTSD and depressed patients. Many people with PTSD and depression say negative things about themselves to themselves. Dr. Ochberg explains a therapeutic tool he calls "your board of directors." Replacing the negative people on your board of directors with those who are supportive.
