MDJunction to me

saralaurie"In the 3 months I have been with MDJunction I have developed a sense of calmness. I now friends who do not judge me because I have been a mental mess at times. It is such a good feeling to have friends I can tell my deepest thoughts and always get back to me with their support. I have never seen a therapist for long periods of time. Right or wrong, this is the best therapy possible for me. Thanks Roy for getting this up and running and making such a difference in my life. Sara" (saralaurie)

I've just done it once but hoping to today since it's nice out while I work on my relaxing skills/being mindful....

Most of the sessions have been in her office and I feel like I need more redirection/reminders whatever you want to call it to reinforce the right behaviors when walking like being calm and in the moment not worrying about getting scared etc because there isn't real danger there !!

I have never done this. We've always just did sessions in her office. She offered one time to go for a walk, but we never did. I wish my therapist was more active with me!

It took me several calls to ask "do you do exposure therapy?"

She walks from her office with people ....we have mainly done in office sessions but today I'm hoping to walk around some to help me wake up.

Tennis,

Remember when you started to see the Therapist and I suggested that you ask her if you could go walking together and she said yes. Sometimes a patient has to ask the Dr. to do the exposure therapy. I think that is awesome if a Dr. will do that with and for you!! {Hugs} Smile

yeah, she is one of the few around here who actually goes outside her office when it works out....Today was the second time we walked...I was outside with her the whole time because that's what I wanted to do ...walk away from the car and practice my skills....she mainly said to keep up practicing often and working on deep breathing skills to help me relax physiologically! I tense up when I get anxious.

I think that a therapist should always be willing to do exposure with a patient if that is what the person is working on. I mean you are paying the therapist so they should be willing to do that for you! That is awesome!! Smile

The only therapist I've ever gelled with did walk with me. She was amazing and unfortunately I had to stop seeing her when my insurance ran out. She was great though-and her hands on approach really inspired me Smile

That's great Salish. Mine will just walk with me from her office building and the stores aren't that close so we will prob keep doing loops around the parking lot....I was hoping to go in stores with her someday but she said she only walks from the office to do exposure....so I am hoping I get all the confidence/skills in place so I can go in stores again with confidence etc
