Has anyone ever received intensive treatment for agoraphobia? These are 1-3 week programs in which you basically spend every waking hour either doing cognitive behavior therapy, exposure therapy or reading and doing exercises. I imagine if they worked really good, nobody who is part of this group would be, well... part of this group! LOL But if anyone has attended one of these, I'd love to hear what the outcome was. They are not cheap, I can tell you that!

I've actually checked out the BU program, but, alas, how will I get there?

That sure is interesting. I have never heard of such programs. It is expensive as you say but the cost would be nothing if this in fact produced a cure. I am a skeptic when it comes to quick fixes so I won't go on but I would be very interested in learning how successful these things are. A skeptic is not always right and there are times I would LOVE to be wrong! Wink

What I would probably have to do is self medicate (drink a lot of alcohol or take Xanax) in order to board the plane and then take a cab to the clinic or hotel I'd be staying at near the clinic.

I honestly feel as a large research university there shouldn't be a cost...I hope that one day the miracle benzo will be made...one that doesn't create tolerance...anyway if this doesn't work you are out of money...might as well hire a therapist to help you with constant exposure...

I'm with you man! That's what I'm thinking as well. Just wanted to see if anyone had experience with this. I'd be willing to "invest" the money if I knew the stats on those who attended and where they were 5 years after attending. I still haven't had a chance to call them, but I will and I'll report my findings on here for all to see/read.
