sleepySheri"in august 2008, i accidentally found this site and i love it. i have struggled with narcolepsy since 1993 and to this day i have never met another narcoleptic in person. to share my story and read the stories of others as well as try to help others means the world to me. i want to thank all those who are there to listen to me and to give me advice...." I'm on my way to my new psychologist appointment and haven't gone out of my house in weeks so I'm having a hard time. The longer I stay home without going out the harder it is when the time comes and its hard. I've also only slept for about 40 minutes so the lack of sleep mixed with my anxiety has me feeling like I'm going crazy. Once again, any kind words are very appreciated to help me with this trip. (I am not the one driving btw)

The AA (Anticipatory Anxiety) that you are feeling is often worse than the actual outing. We have a tendency to psych ourselves out which creates a pattern of panic. What do you have planned to keep yourself busy before the appointment?

Glad it went well! I'm happy you didn't delete the post. It just reinforces that though we feel like a mess before we are going to do something, actually doing it usually isn't that bad.
"This being human is a guest house. Every morning is a new arrival. A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor... Welcome and entertain them all. Treat eash guest honorably. The dark thought, the same, the malice, meet them at the door laughing, and invite them in. Be grateful for whoever comes, because each has been sent as a guide from beyond" - Rumi

"Expose yourself to your deepest fear; after that, fear has no power, and the fear of freedom shrinks and vanishes. You are free." - Jim Morrison
