Hi! I'm not trying to ask any specific questions, I simply want tell my story and hopefully get some positive feedback. It's going to be a long story I apologize.. Here it goes..

About 2 months ago I tried a legal drug on the market known as K2, which is basically a lab made chemical that reacts to the same receptors that THC does, legal weed basically. Except it's much more potent than THC in small doses. l took one hit of it, and immediately noticed the effects. It was almost a trip/panic attack because I had a type of vertigo I suppose, in which everything was spinning in tight and loose circles, which caused involuntary movements of my entire body, trying to match these circles. When the spinning felt wide, my body would tend to move in large motions, when the spinning was tight, my hands would almost vibrate to match this spinning. It was horrible, I thought the vibrations were causing my skin to shred off.. at one point I thought I could see my skin dusting the floor.. it was extremely traumatizing. After about 3 hours I was able to sleep and woke up just fine! I was okay, and able to joke about it for 3 days. One day my cousin gave me a peice of cake laced with THC butter, no other drugs. The only problem is it was a HUGE dosage of THC. After nearly 3 hours, I was falling asleep when I jolted awake to the same symptoms I had the other night. This time it wasn't nearly as bad( I didn't run through the house flailing "i'm gonna die!" like I had done before, but it was awful none the less. This time though I was unable to sleep that night, or for the next 3 days. I felt extremely wierd, detached, and suffering from anxiety. Everytime I tried to sleep my brain would go off into fucking make no sense land, and I couldn't fall asleep. I ended up going to the hospital to get some ativan which put me right out, but I only had a few pills. After the pills ran out I suffered from some anxiety and strange feelings, this is where the agoraphobia comes in. I had a few hyper realistic nightmares, one which was of another panic attack. Also a few times I woke up feeling extremely wierd, panicking and anxiety. I began to fear sleeping, even when I was deathly tired, because I was afraid to experience these symptoms... It was getting much much better and for the past week and a half I was completely normal again. I was able to sleep under most circumstances without fear of a reaction, until yesterday. I was on a road trip with some buddies and while I was asleep they decided to blaze up. I ended up getting a contact high, which caused me to become filled with anxiety. Last night I didn't manage to sleep until 6 am for 3 hours because I was so tired, but everytime I almost reached sleep I would jolt awake, I ended up having another dream of a panic attack, and woke up feeling strange a couple times. Now tonight i'm scared as shit to fall asleep, i'm so damn tired but I'm afraid to let myself drift.. I don't want to deal with this again, I know I can beat it but I just want to sleep Sad

Hi and welcome!!!

First, I am sorry about your experience. I wish I could say I have never heard of such a thing before but I have... Someone close to me was taking high doses of THC (very concentrated) for medical reasons and developed horrible panic. So bad that it felt like constant death. It took many months for him to recover. Actually, a certain anxiety and sensitivity remained. I am hoping your panic will also pass, the more time passes. It concerns me that you are having feelings of avoidance though. Agoraphobia is so closely related to panic and once it gets you, it is hard to get rid of even when the panic hardly happens any more. Have you considered going on a small dose of some anti-anxiety medication? Something that would stop the fear and stop the urge to avoid? It could be a short term thing... The faster you address this the better.

I am glad you found us. This need not be permanent so have hope! Talk to a doctor and resist avoidance as much as you can!

Anna

I appreciate the response! When I was taking ativan it completely destroyed any anxiety I was having, except they gave me large 2 mg doses so I only received 5. I've thought about getting some low dosage ones before, but doctor visits tend to be pricey for me :/ I know I can get better without medication, I already was.. though I know it would be easier if I did. I try not to avoid sleep.. i'm just afraid of being inbetween sleep and waking states.. I try to wait until I just get so tired I don't realize I fell asleep. I can tell it wont be nearly as bad as before, since I'm not having nearly as extreme symptoms, I just don't want to feel that panic anymore! Once i'm better i'll make sure to stay away from marijuana as I see to have bad reactions to it..

Yeah, I would suggest you avoid it. I know how I feel about it after what I saw. I am sure you will get better, For some reasons the symptoms stick around for a while... I am sorry about that. The sleep is a problem for lack of sleep makes us more anxious. Maybe even over the counter sleeping pills? I don't know if that would be a good thing or not... You know, it is good that you are aware of your feelings and behavior. You also know the reason. That is huge and will help you when you feel those terrible symptoms. You are aware that they cannot harm you.

Yeah you're exactly right! Smile I am aware than they can't hurt me, and I know I'll get better, I just hate the way they feel.. I try to be a very logical person and when what I feel doesn't make sense, I tend to panic.. You're definitely right though, it's the lack of sleep that feeds into my anxiety.. for awhile I had suffered from optical migraines due to lack of sleep and stress, which was causing me to see movements in the corner of my eyes.. which further increased my anxiety, luckily those symptoms are gone! Also, I do remember when I ran out of ativan I grabbed some sleep pills, and when I had taken them I tried to fall asleep but would abruptly wake up with some very strange sensations, so I try to just fall asleep naturally. I really appreciate you responding! Smile I'm going to try to get to sleep tonight.. i'll post in the morning if i'm successful!
