MDJunction to me

fluffyluggage"I found MDJunction at a time when I was struggling with so much. I
was so sick. I found a home, a place where people understood me, when
even my family doubted me. In MDJ, I found a place of refuge, love,
and support. I come here daily, to find my balance, to cope, and to
find that same support I've found from day 1. MDJ is my new family.
The friends I've made here will remain with me for a lifetime.

So Danielle... you say Lithium keeps you from getting angry? So, there MUST be a chemical reason too?

I used to be a very angry person. I would get triggered and flip out. Since I have been on lithium I have been so much calmer. Maybe my anger came from mania.

I'm an Advocate

I get angry. SERIOUSLY pissed off beyond belief. And it is actually considered a victory for me. I never had real emotions before. I've said this a few times, I was little miss sunshine. I really got angry for the first time about a year ago. I don't even know what it was over and I had no clue what the emotion was. Now I know, and when I am angry I let it out... as productively as I can.

I really don't know how to get angry, everytime this feeling comes, outrage or just rage, no matter how I try to control it it just never seems to end well! There has to be a way to express these feelings without losing what little control and dignity I have.

BTW I am the group leader on the Anger Management board!

I already kind of chimed in about how my lack of anger comes from the environment I grew up in. I have actually had many therapists and psychiatrists tell me that I don't get angry enough. I didn't get angry when my wife left me, I don't get angry enough when I'm treated poorly, I just have one of those personalities where I like to go with the flow. I made great strides with this as I became an adult, but agoraphobia has seemed to bring me right back to square one. I hate confrontation and will do almost anything to avoid it.

Bunnie.. so when you "let it out" does it scare you or others?

I find anger very scary.. I don't want to offend anyone here. I just do. My ex used to get really angry and throw things. I could NOT tolerate it. It scared me and the was teaching the kids bad things. I just could never understand it.

What do you do with your anger that is productive?

Does anyone have coping skills to share?

I'm the same way Kevin. It takes a LOT to anger me. Then I like to express it in words only by venting here. I don't scream or yell usually. I wonder if we are okay? LOL Maybe we will spontaneously combust one day! LOL Or are we just drugged up and don't feel stuff any more?
