I'm an Advocate

Hey Gals and Guys,

You may or may not have noticed, but I took the weekend off in an effort to step back and revaluate our forum and more specifically what happened to me. If you missed it, complaints were made to MDJ about the content of some of my posts. They were evidently too sexual or demeaning to women in some way. When I stopped being mad at the world over this I gave it some thought with a cooler head and I came to some unlikely conclusions. First, I realized what a diverse group of individuals we are and that possibly I did say some things that might have been offensive to certain people. Second, we have no idea who might be viewing our posts, as they appear on the home page before they get to our board. Only the thread name and the first line of the post show up there, but that is enough to incite the curiosity of an unsuspecting onlooker. I know this to be true because I put up a thread last Friday titled “No Friday Night Party” and I saw it had 12 hits before it ever flashed onto our board. Have you ladies ever received a PM from someone and had no clue as to who they were? I know I have and it’s a weird feeling to think you are being watched. (By the way, our agoraphobia site is not monitored, Roy’s words, not mine) Well these PM’s are coming from people who either sees your picture or a tantalizing first line from your post. My point is that maybe I offended someone who isn’t even one of us, just a moralistic onlooker. Third, everything that you post is available for everyone one to view and/or offend. So if I said something during a “wild time” on the site to a participating female member, possibly that comment may have offended one of our many silent onlookers, of which there are many during one of our “party’s.”

I guess my message here is awareness. Yes, we have our 1st Amendment rights and no, there will be no censorship, unless it is something way out of line. If that were to happen any of our group leaders can use “delete” at their discretion. I believe the laughter, flirting and parties should continue as they have in the past. I also believe that everyone in this group is an intelligent person with their own set of values and morals. So I am not worried about our future whatsoever, I would just like everyone to be aware of where we are and to think before you hit submit.

I hope this post came off as I intended it and that you do not come away from this afraid to speak your feelings. Our compassion and our laughter is what make this group so much fun. That is why I joined, and that is why I stay!

Love you all,

silver

Sounds good... I figured you were taking a short break. Glad you're back!

Now that I'm past the first line, I can tell you what I really think... Just kidding!

I get some of those random PM's too every once in a while... I guess sometimes people are just looking for someone to talk to and their own groups aren't active.

Yeah, I thought it was football too. It is good to have that awareness but I do not intend to change how I post. If onlookers want to jump in and judge, so be it. I think this group works very well and a lot of us are benefiting from it. It is the diversity that keeps me here for all this time. BTW, I get those PMs too and they do not bother me. I have nothing to hide. SUBMIT

actually it was football, i just wanted to look concerned as a leader. frankly, i don't much care what anyone posts which means nothing has changed. so all you perverts may carry on, like you need my permission! ha ha ha SUBMIT

i really just wanted everyone to know we are not being monitored at all. roy said he had 700 groups and that would be impossible.
