MDJunction to me

Hazeldee"MDJunction means that I no longer have to feel like I am the only person in
the world with pericarditis. It means that I can talk to others who know
how stressful and how painful having pericarditis can be. It means that I
connect with others to discuss treatments that have or haven't worked for us, so that we have a leg to stand on. I think that having my friends at
MDJunction has allowed me to better mentally and emotionally process my
diagnosis and what it means to me. I feel so lucky to have this community
available to me. I use MDJunction as a way to use my experience to help
others. Reaching out to help others is the only solace I have found since
being diagnosed with pericarditis.

My son has migraines and low blood pressure that drops suddenly called vasovagal syncope. His doctor wants him to be tested for AI. My mother has primary Addison's disease and is currently being treated with daily steriods. My son's ACTH stimulation test is scheduled for tomorrow morning. I told his doctor he had a steriod(Kenalog) injection recently to help the migraines (it did not help the migraines). He said the recent steriod injection (13 days ago) would not affect the resulets of the ACTH test. My mother's endocronologist said pain injections too close to the ACHT test would scew the results and he discounted her first test which was done 2 weeks after her steriod injection. Does anyone know what the wait time should be after having the injection or if we should try to postpone the ACTH test?

I just had an acth test over Christmas and did tons of research before I took it. Based on what I have read, two weeks should have been plenty of time for it to clear without affecting the test.

I just read that Kenalog 40 is supposed to stay in the body 30-40 days and it would surpress the adrenals for about 40 days. Maybe it depends on which type of steriod his doctor used. Was your ACTH stim test abnormal and did you have a steriod injection prior to having the test?
