Adrenal Insufficiency Support Group

Was just looking at my newest HC rx and my endo has said on it "please give to patient as 5 mg (1/2 tablet)". Ummm - NO! I am perfectly capable of splitting the pills myself. I've been bumped up to 25 mg so when I fill my pill box for the week it gets 2 pills plus a half that I split and put in consecutive days so that there is at least a little bit of dosage consistancy. No matter how well the pharmacist splits the pills they are NOT even - and to take 5 random half pills a day seems like a fairly large margin of error when even 2.5 mg difference affects how I feel that day.

Am I over reacting, or dose this sound like a bad idea to anyone else?

eta: I'm wondering if there have been some new dispensing regs. in Canada as 2 of the 3 rx I picked up today had split pills b/c the dosages were different than what was prescribed. If it is, I am not impressed! There is a HUGE size difference in the thyroid pills they split (were out of stock of the strength I needed so gave double strength and they split them) - at least if I split them I can take the halves on consecutive days and at keep things somewhat consistant.
