I just take it because it helps with Calcium absorption, and fight off all those germs my kids keep bringing home - lol.
I'm glad to share my experience, but I am not a doctor and you should always consult your own physician.
I am hypopituitary. I take prednisone (supplement with HC), levothyroxine, estrogen, growth hormone and DHEA.

Catherine, I take 2-5 g of C a day depending on the time of year, the pollen count, and what I'm fighting off at the time! I started taking it for allergies, so that I could go off of my daily antihistamine for one month out of the year. It does help. Quercetin helps, too. During the height of virus and allergy season I take more. A side benefit I noticed after starting this in December is that my joint pain diminished significantly. I don't know if this is because it is helping my cortisol levels, or has something to do with stabilizing my immune system, or if it is rebuilding my cartilage.... no idea really. But it helps. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Wink
Dx: Rheumatoid Arthritis, Adrenal Fatigue. Treatment: Plaquenil 400 mg, DHEA, pregnenolone, 5-HTP, GABA, L-Glutamine, and nutritional support.

Thanks so much for answering my questions. I asked my family doc and she said there was not harm in doubling the amount I'm taking.

I take it with other vitamins so I have never actually measured it but I know that too much can upset your tummy. Speaking to your doctor is the best choice.

I have a large craving for oranges, tangerines, orange juice, and other fruits like grapes and apples, and am unsure if this is related to a bodily desire for sugar, or a bodily request to get more Vit C. Or neither! I also take a large multi-vitamin, which has loads of Vit C. But I still have symptoms of fatigue and joint pain, which depending on what Dr I listen to can have different root causes. Nevertheless, I have also heard that large Vit C supplements can't do any harm, only have the potential to do good.
