Hello everyone. I am still at Mayo, haven't been feeling very well, so haven't posted, sorry about that. I am still extremely swollen and throwing up, had a test this morning a CT scan where I had to drink some horrible stuff and it made me throw up bad. Finally got the pictures and now the surgeon wants to see me on Monday. They also said my bladder is not working correctly and is not emptying like it is supposed to so I have a couple of procedures scheduled on Monday. They said I may have to start using a catheter from now on, that freaked me out a lot. They are not going to start the new protocol on my steroid until I get home and they are saying that it will take up to a year to get me to where I need to be on the right steroids. He said that every time I go down a bit on the steroid I will go through about a week of complete misery and pain until my body becomes accustomed to the new dosage. I am really scared at this point and I don't really know what to expect but I am just hanging in there and praying a lot and thankful for the support from my family and my Church, and all of you! Don'tknow when I will get to go home, hopefully next week. My Church has been amazing, people have been donating money so I can stay here, I am really blessed.
Diagnosed with primary Addisons at age 46 almost died before it was diagnosed. Then told by Mayo Doctors in 2011 that I have secondary. Take HC 30.0 a.m. and 10 mg at noon and 10 mg at 4 p.m. 100 mcg Synthroid. Stress dose with Hydrocortisone for emergencies and carry a Solu-Cortef injection for emergencies. Also take 50,000 Units Vitamin D 3x wk and potassium 15 ml once per day. On pain meds Fentanyl patch 50 mcg and Hycrodone APAP 15 mL every four hours. I love this site and am so grateful for all of you!

Teri , so sorry to hear your still having problems. I know it has to be scary, but you sound like a very strong woman who has much support from family, friends and Church, that is a comforting feeling. Wonderful they're helping you out so you can get more tests and hopefully answers. Be strong and know you will get through this difficult period.

Prayers for you..........

Laura

Hi Teri,

I am so sorry you are going through all of this. Try to see the small improvements, however tiny and focus on that day by day. You're in the right place, God bless your church for helping you out. Not many people are that lucky. I am praying for you, that you improve soon and that you are well on the way to a returning health by the time you get back home.

Deb

I'm glad to share my experience, but I am not a doctor and you should always consult your own physician.

I'm hypopituitary (SAI and hypothyroid) caused by a pituitary cyst. Taking 7.5 mg prednisone and 75 mcg synthroid daily.

Oh My Dear Teri...the ray of sunshine of our group!

I'm so SORRY! I have had some personal crises that have kept me from checking in regularly otherwise I would've written sooner. I'm so sorry. I'm glad you are at Mayo. They are a great place & will get everything fixed & better for you. It's neat because they all work together on the same team so it's like one-stop shopping. I went to Mayo in '01 & '02 and got most of my initial diagnoses. The people were all wonderful. It was just so hard being away from family, financially staying in a hotel and going for test after test....it gets so exhausting. Is your husband with you? How long have you been there? I'm so sorry - been out of the loop way to long.

Before I bombard you with some questions, I want you to know that right now, my heart is aching for you! I'm so sick inside knowing that you are going through so much more than any one human being should have to bare in a lifetime. You are such an angel & you keep on trekking! I sincerely hope this trip leads to better days of health ahead. I'm going to keep praying for you & ask my bible study group & facebook friends to do the same thing! Please keep us posted.

I wanted to ask: could you email (angelabudner@hotmail.com) me your address in Syracue and/or the address of your current hotel (and phone). I want to send you something. I'd love to chat with you on the phone or text if that helps you have someone to vent to. If not, just email me and I'll send it to either address you prefer.

Also, I wanted to ask about the bladder? Have they done a cystoscopy? Make sure they do it while you are under sedation so they can fully blow up the bladder beyond the normal capacity. This way, they may find a disease (that I have) called interstitial cystitis of the bladder which causes the bladder to crack & bleed (almost like ulcers). This cause UTI's, urgency, frequency and severe pelvic pain. They can also do a urodynamic test to find out if you have any type of incontinence. Please keep me posted on the bladder stuff.

Have they pin-pointed the cause of your swelling & vomiting? That's so horrible to go through. Vomiting is just awful. I hope they can rid you of that asap.

Please keep me posted. I will check our site every day for updates from you. Let me know if there is anything you need! Seriously! I pray for you restoration to good health, your inner peace, strength to endure this awful situation, faith in God's plan for you, strength & support for your family as they rally around you and the love that you give so freely should now be returned to you in hugs, kisses, letters, cards 10 FOLD!!!! We love you Teri! Get well - we need you back!

Love, hugs & prayers,

Angie

Thinking of you Teri and hoping you are better soon!

The week of hell is not always so bad. Some tapers go better than others. I've been doing that hell for about a year now and I survived (so far!). Don't let them scare you into a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Hi Teri,

I want to send you my prayers and best wishes for your various health issues. You are definitely in the right place now and the doctors will figure out just how to treat you properly, so you can get better. Thank goodness you have your church, family and friends on your side helping you and providing you with support and comfort.

I would also appreciate it if you could let me know a good mailing address so I could send you something. I really want to do whatever I can to help cheer you up! You could send me the address in a private message.

Take care and many gentle hugs,

Janet
