I've been blaming my blurry vision on being cortisol low, but found out yesterday I have cataracts! So can't really rely on this as a symptom of being low anymore. It does seem to bother me more on the computer for some reason. I get very, very blurry.

I'm glad to share my experience, but I am not a doctor and you should always consult your own physician.

I'm hypopituitary (SAI and hypothyroid) caused by a pituitary cyst. Taking 7.5 mg prednisone and 75 mcg synthroid daily.

Of course long term use of steroids increases intraocular pressure and increases risk of what? Oh yeah, cataracts. Eeeeeeverything is somehow connected. Hope they find a painless and amazing solution for you very soon!

Happened to me. I had double cataract surgery in December and have to wear glasses all the time now. I can see better, but I sometimes still have the blurry vision. I am really having problems with my blood sugars going low a lot, I think that may have something to do with it as well.
Diagnosed with primary Addisons at age 46 almost died before it was diagnosed. Then told by Mayo Doctors in 2011 that I have secondary. Take HC 30.0 a.m. and 10 mg at noon and 10 mg at 4 p.m. 100 mcg Synthroid. Stress dose with Hydrocortisone for emergencies and carry a Solu-Cortef injection for emergencies. Also take 50,000 Units Vitamin D 3x wk and potassium 15 ml once per day. On pain meds Fentanyl patch 50 mcg and Hycrodone APAP 15 mL every four hours. I love this site and am so grateful for all of you!

Make sure you stress dose before the surgery even though it is simple, I stress dosed before the first one and did fine, forgot for the second one and it took me weeks to recover.

Teri,

How long did you wait before getting the surgery? Doc said the cataract was a 4 in one eye, 3 in the other - but I don't know what that means!! I foolishly didn't ask because I thought I could find the rating scale online but no luck. I'm going back in on May 12, have to have my eyelids evaluated - he thinks that is contributing to the blurry vision as well because they're "droopy". If it's above a certain criteria on the field of vision test my insurance will cover eyelift surgery! OK, I won't lie, I'm a little pleased about that possibility...I always think my heavy eyelids make me look like my grandma and though I loved her dearly...not so much on wanting to look like her...btw I think I got my endocrine issues from her. She had so many thyroid/goiter surgeries she used to joke that they were going to install a zipper on her neck.

Deb,

I've been having blurry vision, and a feeling that I have something in my eye. Your post has me making an appt. with an eye doc. on Monday.

I hope it all works out for you.

Hugs,

Corri
