Hi Folks,

I wanted to give you an update on my exersize quandry but more excitingly I've done a little research I'd like to share.

First the exersize...I joined my MIL in a Tai Chi class once a week for 50 minutes. I paid for it the next day, even with increasing my HC. I'm going to keep problem solving and I see my Endo mid-may, with blood work next week. Hopefully my recordings will give show some pattern or at least give us a direction.

Now the research. As you know I believe in holistic care...not the "have this symptom, take this herb" type (to me that't the same as the medical model), but the wellness model. I believe man has totally screwed up what God created, that we have polluted our bodies with so many non-foods that it can no longer function. I did a simple search on low fat diets and adrenal function and found loads of quality (MIT, Perdue, Harvard, UPENN) research not only on the link between low-fat and adrenals, but low fat and autism. To me that's exciting!!Cheerful

As you should be aware of, our brains are composed of fatty tissue and our endocrine system needs fatty tissue to function properly. Despite what the AHA and ADA and big government say, studies are showing that low fat is creating a lot of problems. I'm not saying to go out and gorge on ice cream, cakes and cookies (they have sugars,trans-fats and partially hydrogenated fats and Omega-6s), but eat the grass fed meats, drink organic regular milk, eat those organic avacadoes, nuts and olives. Forgo the sugar, and yes to those moms of little children, get rid of the "fruit snacks" yogurts and granola bars that are processed and full of sugar and made of non-foods. Make your own from real ingredients that are pesticide free.

I would love to do an unofficial study in our group, having people make the switch and see how they feel in 3 months, 6 months and year down the road. Just omit sugar and increase Omega-3 fats. Anybody game?

Here's a chance for us to help ourselves.

OMM,

Along with PAI, severe allergies, reflux and growth Hormone, my son also has a corn allergy. You would be very surprised what corn is in. Of course, corn syrup is in everything. He was diagnosed last year and we had to eliminate so much from his diet. I make our bread, homemade cookies and other sweets, we make homemade taco chips, muffins, etc. He of course, is not on a low fat diet. But with all the ways we are eating healthier--he eats hardly anything that is processed., he still struggles with fatigue, dizziness and temperature sensitivities. He is a child, so it may be a whole total situation because of that. The one thing that has changed drastically is that he doesn't have as much gas as he used to.

That is just my little input... from a mom of a child with PAI.

I do however believe that the healthier you eat, the more healthy you will feel. Please keep us updated on the results of your eating habit changes.

Lora-Joy

Mom to two boys, one of which has Addison's disease, growth hormone deficiency, corn allergy, severe seasonal allergies and reflux. He is 10 years old. He was diagnosed in June of '06. He is on 12.5 mg of HC daily. He also takes growth hormone injections daily and meds for allergies and reflux.

Lora-Joy,

I have a friend from a GI board who has a corn allergy. Do you know anyone else with one, someone with whom you can exchange recipes, frustrations, new products and old product changes, etc?

If not, I could put the two of you in touch. That has to be incredibly frustrating and isolating!

Cynthia

Diagnosed PAI & SAI - 12/2009
PCOS - 7/2010 Hysterectomy - 6/2011
Propylene Glycol Allergy - 8/2012
20 mg/day HC
5mg/day prednisone

I always have an opinion or ten, but please consult a medical professional about your own situation. Advice on this board should never be a substitute for seeing a doctor!
