MDJunction to me

"MDJunction to me is a life saver... when i first was diagnosed with Scheuermann's Disease i wrote a message to a page i found on google, hoping that they could help me.... you'd never know it but that weird feeling (you know that one where it feels like someone actually cares) came over me when i opened my email next day to find that someone on the other side of the world (at the American Medical Library)had read my message while i was sleeping, and there low and behold was the address to MDJunction.... well it is everything to me, i live it breathe it and love it!!!!! I have found many people who are struggling with similar issues banding together to help each other. It is the best place in the world, and i couldn't think of another place to go to meet so many lovely people....

thanks MDJunction

My name is Jamie and I have been taking medicine for ADD/ADHD since 4th grade.

I am looking for people to connect to that have ADD/ADHD, and I am also looking to help people who have loved ones with ADD/ADHD understand the disorder.

What kind of med. sdo you take? I have my son on Strattera and that doesn't always work. I am going to take him to a center (Tarnow center in Sugar Land) to see if they are able to help him with things. I noticed you have delt with this since 4th grade. What helped you and your family? I am just trying to get ideas. I feel like I am going in circles and no answers. All I can do is to keep trying! You can't give up on your kids, you know!!

Jacobsmom, I would be very careful of some of the meds that are out there. I would make sure that you and your husband sit down and talk to the doctor before making big changes in the meds. It also can be due to the fact that he is getting older it can happen. I would advise you to keep away from Ritlin. Ritilin can do some strange things the kids. And it can also cause CardicAresst as well. Any med changes ask the doctor, what the sides affects are. Need help on this let me know. message me or PM me. My oldest was on Ritilin, when we first found out that he had ADHD and he was the devil, he pull up my rug thinking that it was flowers. He would walk out in the middle of the night as well.......Need help!!!!!!

We still have him on strattera. I even lowered his dose back down to the 18mg. His was on 25 and he was acting strange. We don't want him on anything. But this at least this helps him do better in school work. he still acts up. Our main concern was school work. His behavior and moods and acting up. We feel with age the acting up and being hyper will all come together. We hope! I am very scared about all the med.s there isn't enough info out there that shows long term side effects. He does have a small heart problem. He gets a EKG every three months. The strattera actually calms his heart beats, rather than speed it up. Do you suggest anything? the only thing that is hard for me, being mom, is I can't ever calm him down once he starts getting up set for getting in trouble. I make him go to his room and he flips out. He will cry and follow me and scream my name and throw a fit. If I put him in a time chair (sometimes) his is not as bad. It just depends on the day. When he does that, I feel helpless and don't know what to do. because one hand he has to learn when you do something wrong then you get in trouble. but then after the fit throwing and follwoing me arounf the house (even when I take him back to his room everytime!) I go and sit with him and talk to him and tell him he can't act like that and stuff. I feel I dodn't get thru to him. ( Feel like you give in!) then what does that teach the little brother? again any ideas or suggestions let me know. All ears! thanks for writing!
