Hello,

Years ago, my husband and I saw a counselor, and the counselor mentioned to me privately that she thought my husband had ADD or ADHD.

We got over many hurdles since that time, and we haven't been happier since.....and been through so many challenges... he is my true soul mate Smile

However, the poor guy displays many behaviors that really concern me. I will put it simply....he knows this, as well as my entire family knows this.....

he cannot sit still for hours straight. If he is off from work (weekend)....he needs to busy from 10am - 5pm, non-stop....working on the house, around the house, working, working, working. His brain has to be going all the time. He could never sit still. If he tried to relax....he woudl have to play playstation for hours.....he cannot just sit and relax. He cannot stand to be bored. My daughters get extremely fidgety as well when they are not doing things -- complaining they are bored, needing to be busy at all times.

me.....I am the COMPLETE OPPOSITE. seeing this really overwhelms me, as it is un-natural to me....and it gets me on edge. All of my loved ones need to be busy from the min they wake up, til just moments before falling asleep.

Can any of you comprehend this?

THANK YOU Smile One of my daughters does have a diagnosis of Lyme disease (long term lyme) - where there is a lot of neurological issues due from the lyme, etc. (so that may be some of her excuse....lol)

Any stores and/or suggestions are appreciated Smile

Thanks Smile

ADHDers have unbridled energy. Trying to stifle that energy is in my view counterproductive. It is a difficult thing to deal with in a relationship, but it must be dealt with without attempting to stifle the creative energy. Any attempt to curtail the energy may result in conflict.

My significant other would appreciate your husband's work around the house. Is he available to perform my house chores?

Best wishes.

Excellent Don.....I needed to hear that....because I have my husband who is like this, and my daughter. And a therapist once said that it is normal for these types of people to be "busy" until they fall asleep. They don't "relax" the way "I relax".....the way they relax is by staying busy, and working their body and their mind.

I worry so much that they will overwork themselves, however. I will let it go, appreciate them for who they are -- and YES....APPRECIATE TEH WORK THEY DO FOR US IN THE HOUSE LOL. Sometimes he does get overtired from all of this extra activity; and I just worry about him -- almost like he is exhausting me.....

Sounds like I should not worry too much though, right?

Thank you so much Smile

The concern for your family member's welfare is commendable. My friends and family always worried about me because, like your husband, they thought I was over extending myself. My problem was never finishing what I started. I would get bored with one project and immediately dive into another one.

The hyperactivity and impulsiveness has greatly diminished with age. I would have never finished a two year writing project if I still playing The Tasmanian Devil.

I have learned through out the years with my oldest son who is now 16 years old and as ADHD and is always on the go....He does alot of work around the house with his father who doesn't have ADHD, and my youngest son who has......I have been dealing with for a long time, but we all over come it.....I used to worried but now that Thomas is older he knows when he gets tired, he will rest....And my youngest son does the samething......When they get tired they will rest....

You all have to remember that their brains, are working @ a 1000 RPM's, when we rest they keep going and going.....Need anymore help please both of you PM me anytime.........
