Today I just found out that my daughter has ADD to ADHD. MY question is why ADD to ADHD? Are they the same? Whats the diffrence bettween them? Everytime I Google ADD, it always come out ADD/ADHD? Please I don't understand. Someone explain. And if theres a good website please let me know. Thank you so much.Smile

I know it's confusing and I'm sure if I get this wrong someone will jump in and correct me.

ADD is Attention Deficit Disorder. The "H" in ADHD stands for Hyperactivity. So they are basically the same thing with the one having the added feature of hyperactivity. That can manifest itself in different ways. I've learned in just this past week that hyperactivity can be as simple as having racing thoughts, which is one of the features of bipolar disorder. My understanding is that the difference between ADD and ADHD is splitting hairs. Most of the time you see it as ADD/ADHD.

There is a lot of information out there. On the homepage for this group there is information and if you look under the "General and Support" forum for this group you will find a post that I started containing links to some informational sights.

You didn't say how old your daughter is or how this is effecting her personally as well as family life. Please know that we are here for you and for her. Ask as many questions as you need to and post as often as you like, even if it is just to vent.
