MDJunction to me

peasha"This has been one of the most supportive places I have ever been. I found MDJ by mistaking looking for drs to help me with my many health issues and since that day over a year ago I have found a tight nit little family that keeps me going when the times are tough and offers me a place of retreat to share my successes and failures with others. I get to see the humor and seriousness of what I experience as well as the resources to learn about my health conditions. Thanks MDJ" (peasha)

I went to my Kidney doctor yesterday and he didn't like my weight. Actually I didn't either. I was up to 290. I was at 250 when I was diagnosed with my addisons. What he did was change my hydrocortisone to 10 mg a day from 30 and my fludrocortisone to .1 mg Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

I don't know if that was to much but e's the doctor. I hope it doesn't screw me up. I will find out soon I hope.

And have you gone into adrenal shock? Thats a horribly big change in dosage! How are you feeling?

Bob

Please remember that accurate answers often need detailed source information. Please considering putting your DX status, drug dosage and other information into your "About Me" or Signature Line. That also includes what country you are in because measurement systems and diagnostic methods vary around the world.

My stomach has not felt right since he changed it. I feel like I have a lot of gas. I also feel real tired more then before. I haven't had an adrenal crisis as of yet. I do appreciate your concern, I will keep daily updates.

Guncle, what's a concern is that if you needed that dose, then cutting back rapidly is how you can create an adrenal crisis.

Notice I said IF. And notice I said CAN. It's not definite ....

But it can kill you in one day, so you deserve to know the risks fully. Did he recommend you 'taper down', slowly reducing dosage over a number of days? Did he explain that stomach pain and extreme fatigue are two possible advance warning symptoms of a crisis??

He's the doc but do taper anyway!

Hi, my name is melissa and im new here.

When I got sick at one point(about 2 months after starting my meds), my stomach was killing me and i had extremely bad gas...like worse then ever before in my life, not to mention i felt so irritated and exhausted. my doctor actually doubled my dose.I hope this is not a warning sign for you! Take care of yourself and listen to your body! I call my doctor everytime i feel slightly off!

Hope you are well,

Melissa

I hope not, but last night I thought I was going into crisis. My wife got me a hydrocortisone tablet and in about 2 hous I felt much better. My doctor is also concerned about the water pill I am taking. I am stayin in touch with my doctor al the time now. Right now I fell alright.

If HC made you feel better, that's what you needed. Good call.

My wife is diabetic. I can tell you from experience : docs may know the right Med but aren't always attuned to subtle dosage issues ...
