MDJunction to me

tomboykimi"What MD Junction means to me is a place where i can feel like im not alone. As someone with something as rare as hydrocephalus, it feels like im the only one in the world with it. When i came to MD, its like everyone has it. It doesnt feel like im alone. And that people need to hold up a sign to say what i have, because people know. And they understand. I can get questions answered from people who have been through it rather than from doctors or people who only can tell you from a physical standpoint. THat is what MD junction means to me." Well there is no good, pat answer for this I am afraid. I had back to back crises in June and I am still not doing well. I am on my way to Mayo Clinic today to try and get some help. I am not sure what a good answer is. Everyone responds differently to treatment. Let us know how you are doing, we care about you!
Diagnosed with primary Addisons at age 46 almost died before it was diagnosed. Then told by Mayo Doctors in 2011 that I have secondary. Take HC 30.0 a.m. and 10 mg at noon and 10 mg at 4 p.m. 100 mcg Synthroid. Stress dose with Hydrocortisone for emergencies and carry a Solu-Cortef injection for emergencies. Also take 50,000 Units Vitamin D 3x wk and potassium 15 ml once per day. On pain meds Fentanyl patch 50 mcg and Hycrodone APAP 15 mL every four hours. I love this site and am so grateful for all of you!

Well first thing is to understand that whatever warning symptoms you had before it should be heeded and learned from your next time!

Basically though you can post treat almost like illness stress. ie triple dosing three days then ramp. Its also worth assuming you had some major energy/vitamin/mineral losses so a boost in calories and maybe some B and D vitamins for maybe a week will be in order. Also keep hydrated and if you are staying dry or urinating too much eat more salt.

I personally regard a crisis in me as (my) bad management. ie I should have seen it coming! Thats just my approach though.

Bob

Please remember that accurate answers often need detailed source information. Please considering putting your DX status, drug dosage and other information into your "About Me" or Signature Line. That also includes what country you are in because measurement systems and diagnostic methods vary around the world.

I hope you feel better from your crisis soon. I had a crisis on the 19th and I'm still recovering from it nothing seems to be working as far as having energy, and gaining my appetite back. I have a question is Adrenal Insufficiency the same as Addison's Disease? I am currently stress dosing, but it's making me feel really weird. However, I am still really fatigued. My doctor took me off my florinef, and I must say that I am suffering without it when I go to the doctor on the 4th I will ask him to put me back on it I don't think that Prednisone will do the work that I need all by itself. Anyways, I hope that everyone is enjoining their weekend so far have a great day everyone.
Love every waking minute of life, never take it for granted.
