Ok long story short after being addicted to many different opiates I was introduced to Subutex by my doctor. I have been on 8mg for close to 2 years now... my doctor started tapering me 2 months ago and i got down to 6mg (was prescribed 16 mg but only took 8 after first 6mo) then 2 weeks ago i found out I have cervical cancer and have to have a hysterectomy which is scheduled 7/5 my doctor refused to do the surgery and said i would need to find a new surgeon that had experience in surgery while on this med. so the first week i only took 3-5 mg except 2nd to last was 2mg and last was 1mg. it has been almost 3 days since taking it and the first 2 days werent so bad but today has been pure agony ive cried ALL day and have had ALL other withdrawl symptoms does anyone know how long this will last and is there anything i can do to help me? I really really need help I am sooo close to just canceling this surgery which i keep telling myself I cannot do that due to the risk of the cancer spreading even more as it is just now in my cervix only. can anyone please help me figure out how to get thru this?

I am so sorry you have cancer, but having the hysterectomy will save your life, you are right you have to do it. You can do this!!! Yes you will go thru these withdrawals for about 3 - 7 days. That is nothing compared to a life long addiction. OK? I am sorry it took so long to reply. I am here for you though,we are here for you. Use us to help you get thru the tough times. When you start wanting to use get online and talk to some of us to pass the time. Journal about how you are feeling anything to take your mind off it for 10 mins. I know easier said than done. Don't give up!!!
I have an illness ,I am not my illness.

You can try and find a doctor to help you detox off subutex but that might take too long, many doctors don't want to get involved,

You can try and do it yourself, there are herbs and OTC meds you can use, do alittle research, its called the Thomas Recipe, (google it)its herbs and OTC meds that help w/ the side effects. I am not that familar w/ subutex, but I have gone through withdrawl many times from opiates, I was slowly decreasing and stopping the use of fentanyl patch and then I was switched to oxy and have come down from 80mg 3 times a day, to 20 mg 2 times a day,

I would prepare myself, w/ herbs and medicine, if you have a dr you can go to see if you can get anti depressants and something for the anxiety and to help you sleep. If the dr won't give you anything then use the herbs, they also advertize the withdrawal pill, its a combination of herbs that help w/ withdrawal. I don't know how that withdrawal pill works I just saw adds for it. But I know several members have tried the Thomad Recipe and said it really helped them.

It sounds like this surgery is something you really need to have done, so its time to get off the subutox, is that the same as suboxone, so many drugs out there.

Start by tapering slowly, then you won't be as sick, but if you have the surgery all scheduled, take time off before the surgery and do the detox at home, use the Thomas Recipe to help deal w/ the side effects. When are you having the surgery, maybe you can postpone it for 2 weeks to get the drugs our of your system. Will the dr do the surgery then, if you are off of subutex. You will be depressed once the drugs are out of your system but you can deal with that after the surgery. Take one problem at a time, first get the subutex out of your system so you can have the surgery.

Its terrible how dr give us these meds and don't really explain to us anything about them. I was prescribed fentanyl patched for pain, they made my life a nightmare, the dr just prescribed it and said its for the pain, I didn't know anything about it and then I had a hard time finding a dr to help me detox off of them.

Is really sad w/ dr like that out there.

Good luck to you, you can do it, just prepare yourself to be sick and use the herbs and the other meds for the side effects. It helps you get through the withdrawals,

Let us know what you decide to do, we are here all praying for you, be strong and take one day at a time, one problem at a time,,..you are not alone.....

I'm still here just feeling like crap yeah subutex is pretty much the same as suboxonr... tomorrow is day 7 and it is also my surgery day and oh to be able to sleep is going to be very much needed if they could just make me sleep for longer than the surgery it would be so nice lol I hate this I just want to be clean!!!!!!! Y would I ever do this to myself... so many unanswered questions! Just say a prayer I feel God is the only help I have now but feel as I don't deserve his help anymore!

so hopefully the drug is out of your system, they are going to give you anesthesia I hope, I don't see how they can do the surgery w/o it, I hope things go right and that there are no complications.. I will be thinking of you tomorrow and praying that everything goes right. Hopefully you won't have detox side effects anymore. Let us know how everything goes,,,you do deserve God's help, the dr that prescribed the subutex should have explained about all the problems the drug can cause, I hate it when dr prescribe something and don't make us aware of the side effects,

God will be by your side and I will be praying that everything goes good,,,I know you must be anxious, but try and relax, I know that it will be hard but keep thinking positively, it will help you get through the surgery...........
