I totally get what you are going through. I am a recovering alcoholic and have very severe anxiety. The only problem is....the only thing that fixes that are opiates. Such as xanax, clonopin, valium. The temptation is so hard when your body gets used to the normal dosage and then the feeling of peace when you take more and more.

Withdrawl is killer and I mean that in the worst possible way. I felt like I was DYING when I withdrawled from these substances.

Is there anything else you can take besides aderall? What is aderall used for??? I'm not sure what that is?

I'm here if you want to talk-

Hugz,

Ange

Missys,

I took Adderall, ritalin, for Add for 9 years, and my Dr. will not let me have it anymore because it is addicting...after all it is a LEGAL SPEED.....now there are other ADD ADHD meds out that you can take...have you tried or could you ask you doc for CONCERTA?

ALso...Strattera...another option.

I'm sorry you are going through this dear, I hope your doc can find a way to care for your needs concerning ADD...but I will tell you...most Docs will not give you anything once they know you are an addict,

Mine won't even address the subject..and really I can't blame him. I was crushing and snorting the ritalin 40mg to get buzzed for the day...as I ought chronic fatigue with my FMS, I did this secretely until it led to COCAINE.

I am glad they stripped me of my ADD med..cold turkey. I was angry at first, but once I got serious about my sobriety...I was glad they did.

I wish the best for you Missy

OH my, I understand but not b/c I am on antianxiety meds, though I need to be. My problem is that I suffer from a great deal of pain and the drug most commonly prescribed is vicodin and flexeril. Well, these work okay for the pain and muscle cramps but they are also addictive and quite good at "getting high" on. I try to fight through the pain. I cannot imagine what I would do if I had to take the opies every day. That would be very hard for me. Know that we are here to help if we can.
My best day is worse than the worst day you have ever imagined.

The least addictive of those you mentioned is the Flexaril...it's about the mildest muscle relaxer there is. We must have a big difference in our chemistries jsrdrnr, I could take 5-7 of those and STILL feel nothing. But then again...I stayed on LORTAB10 and SOMA'S

at 110pills a month..for 8 years straight..my tolerances to pain killers and muscle relaxers are quite high...it would be cheaper as an addict for me to buy the cocaine than the pills because of that...thank God those days are way over,,but that's just a "for instance" comment.

That's why after doing the Ritalin for a little over 9 years...was not enough anymore so I looked for another way to get high..and I tried and was immediately addicted to..Cocaine.

True enough...I had been clean from all drugs for quite a while and have recently gone back to them after an injury. It is not so much that the flexeril is so addictive as that is produces a relaxation effect of sorts. However, you have to realize that this is abuse I am talking about here...I am taking quite a few flexerils, with quite a few vicodins along with benadryls and sometimes alcohol on top of that and anything else I can find that I think may knock out pain (emotionally and physically). It is all relative though.
My best day is worse than the worst day you have ever imagined.

Hi missy, when I was trying to stay sober I was prescribed benzodiazapenes for my anxiety (xanax, klonipin, and ativan). I expressed my concern to my sponsor and she suggested that I give my pills to someone I trust and they can regulate my medication, so if I needed it I would have to go to them. In your case it would be them giving you 1 pill every day, and that's it. Since you know you need it, you would want to actually take the pill you're given every day. Just an idea.
♥ Christine

Lamotrigine(Lamictal) 400mg
Clonazepam (Klonipin) 0.25mg
Quetiapine (Seroquel) 200mg
Vyvanse 35mg
Alprazolam (Xanax) 0.5mg PRN

Magnesium Citrate 400mg
Melatonin 5mg
