This spring I was diagnosed as bipolar and I am a member over on the bipolar forums. A few weeks ago both my therapist and psychiatrist agreed that I am also ADD.

That said, my psychiatrist doesn't want to put me on any ADD meds because she doesn't want to make me unstable and mess with my bipolar meds. (i know many dual diagnosed are medicated for both but she doesn't feel this is the right course for me.)

My therapist and I are working on strategies for dealing with ADD symptoms without meds. If anyone has any strategies that have been successful in this, I would love to hear them.

Thanks for reading this long post!

I also have been diagnosed with ADD recently. My BP meds just haven't been cutting it. My pdoc has put me on a break from the strattera and concerta, and has increased the dosage of the bp meds. I'm now on 100mg of seroquel.. it's been helping so far. I am able to focus a bit more, but I haven't had enough time yet to see if the effects of the meds with be long term for me. Good luck with managing with your ADD.
Meds. Lamictal 200. seroquel 100. abilify 10. zoloft 200. buspar 30. adderall 40.

Hey, welcome! Just from others on MDJ I've heard it's a real challenge to find meds when you have bipolar and ADD. I'm not diagnosed yet (with ADD) but my aunt has both and it's been rough for her getting the right treatments.

I'm slowly learning about ADD myself, I can identify all of my negative coping strategies but I don't think I have any positive ones yet lol. I've read that a low carb high protein diet helps, and making sure you are getting plenty of exercise, but I haven't gotten myself to put that plan into effect yet.

I am not a doctor or therapist, just a person who cares.
