Greetings friends, I'm on a crazy mental health journey in a quest for some answers. My quick story: I'm a 42 year old woman who was diagnosed with an attention deficit when I was 8, then later with ADHD (when it became an actual diagnosis). I've suffered from depression my entire life but never sought treatment until 13 years ago.
The past 3 years my episodes of depression has become MUCH worse and have been lasting longer than in the past. I've been on on a HOST of medications which work fo...

I think that a great moodykim! I know this is a hard situation especially when you are dealing with your own mental health issues, but hang in there. Does your husband know how severely this affecting you? I know for myself I tend to shelter my boyfriend from my mental state as not to burden him. I know it's not the right thing to do, but it's hard to share that when you are used to stifling it. Anyhoo...maybe it's time to have that REALLY SCARY tough talk and let him know that your mental hea...

It sounds crazy but it's true!!! I was diagnosed with ADD when I was 8, I'm now 42. I've lived with ADD my entire life.
For some reason I attract or am attracted to other ADD/ADHD people. I think ADD/ADHD people are some of the most intelligent, creative, talented hilarious people I know. My closest dearest friends have ADD or ADHD, we misplace $h*t constantly and forget each other's birthdays until a week later..BUT WE DON'T MIND, WE TOTALLY UNDERSTAND EACH OTHER...IT'S GREAT!

brownshell....hello, My name is Michelle too! Anyhoo...housecleaning schedule huh?? Well, because of my ADD, I've become VERY regimented and organized. Without organization, I'm a TOTAL WRECK!!! I spend a lot of time organizing stuff, but I have to pace myself or I'd NEVER sleep and would just be up cleaning all the time. I try to pick one or two rooms to focus on at a time. Just try really hard to stay at it until they are done, and don't worry about the other rooms at that time. (unless of cou...

Hi tjs, I'm sorry to hear about this VERY stressful time your having right now. I know your pain, I have 4 sons, ALL with ADD/ADHD! My house has been like a WWF wrestling match at times...ADHD children often have an issue with impulse control. So, it sounds like when your son is angry or maybe just frustrated he reacts in the the most natural feeling manner and for a lot of children the first feeling that surfaces is anger. It's a VERY strong emotion. In addition, children with ADHD can have a ...

Hi Godsgal, I've learned from experience that ALL kinds of factors can lead to a stunted libido. I know how badly this totally sucks because I too, have the same problem right now. I'm 41 out of my childbearing years and am in a wonderful loving relationship with a gorgeous, sexy younger partner who I love deeply...BUT WHY AM I LIKE A COLD FISH...it's just not there....It's horrible and I feel very guilty OFTEN. I think it's time for you to talk to your doctor about it, because it's obviously af...

By age 4, he was diagnosed with ADHD, impulse disorder, depression, and ODD. He was put on medication and placed in Emotional Support classes in school. Up to this point in time, we have also added borderline bipolar disorder and anxiety to his laundry list of issues.

Does anybody have any advice regarding my post? One thing I forgot to mention is that he stopped taking the Adderall when he graduated almost a year ago. We sent him to the doctor and convinced him to start taking it again, but he rarely takes it and it shows. His room is messy, he backed into his friend's car, he is moody, and he knows just what to say to shut us up, even if it is not true....

I'm a 69 year old retired scientist with lifelong ADHD. I didn't know I had it because when I was a boy it was just being a bad boy who couldn't behave. I was diagnosed 15 years ago, after a dozen years of suicidal depession, and have learned ways to control the negatives, value the positives, and leave the pain and negative self-image of childhood behind. In retrospect I see how my A.D.H.D. played a key role in my success as a research development scientist. I share my experiences, helpful in...

From i've started my master program i have only gotten one A. Other classmates are getting A's and it is not that i'm not happy for them or that i think they don't deserve it. It is really frustrating because i know i can do better but it is impossible for me to concentrate. I often daydream or zone out while in class and if i do manage to stay awake it is almost impossible for me to follow. sometimes i just become so exhausted i have to leave the class and wonder around for a bit. 3 hr classes ...

Discussing you in that room was inexcusable. You didn't mention any meds; have you been properly diagnosed by a professional? If so, you may need to have your meds checked.

Please don't let unthinking people get you down. Keeping a note book with me at all times helps me a lot. I find myself walking from my desk to the kitchen and the 10 steps it takes me to get there is just enough time for me to forget what I wanted. It is no fun and downright ridiculous, but I have learned to accept i...
