Hello all ~ I am going crazy dealing with this infection. My life was turned upside down in just a few hours. The past five months have been a crazy emotional roller coaster. My current treatment isn't working and I am getting discouraged. When people ask what is wrong and I tell them I have an infection they think no big deal, when they should equate this more to being diagnosed with cancer. Actinomycosis is hard to get rid of, there are crazy side effects from treatments which could kill you, and the chance of a relapse is high. I am thankful I was diagnosed easily but after acute renal failure, sinus surgery, two eye surgeries, numerous ct and MRI scans, 14 weeks on a central line for iv penicillin and two weeks of daily hyperbaric oxygen therapy my infection numbers are going up and my kidney function is deteriorating. How do you live with this? I am 31, I work full time outside the home and have three small boys (8,5&4). I want my life back! Tassy - Minnesota, USA |
