Thank you for your input. I took penicillin thru my veins for several months and then took an oral antibiotic for a year and I was allergic to both. They finally had to stop both of them. I am not on meds now and that is a great cpncern. I wonder if the disease is ravaging away at my body without my knowledge. I guess time will tell. I am thankful for this support group. Best regards and good health.

Well I must say I did not expect to find a support group for this! I was doing research for my visit to Mayo Clinic for some health issues and came across this site.
I had Actinomycosis (Lumpy Jaw as they called it back then) 35 years ago and had lumps removed from my neck. Childrens hospital in the Twin Cities said I was the first child they could find documented with this back then.
They removed the lumps but i asked my dad if they gave me extended antibiotics and he said no. To this da...

Hi - it's me again...

I got many PMs from members asking to upload their own videos. At this point we can't add to the library . but hope we will be able to soon, we understand the importance of that!

and another (not related) topic...Two weeks ago we added to the (now available on chrome too) the Groupon application that shows you the hottest daily deals in your town, every day. We received great feedback from the people using the toolbar so I suggest trying it out!!!

BCH1,

So sorry to hear of your problems finding a doctor with any knowledge of actinomycosis and that the infection recurred after 18 months on a PICC line. It's no consolation, but these problems are fairly common among patients with actinomycosis. The same thing happened to Mrs. Christine Wicks in England (lumpy jaws) whose diagnosis of actinomycosis made the news when, after years of seeing doctor after doctor, she was finally diagnosed. She was on a PICC line for months but wasn't given o...

Update:
08/11/09 Tuesday What a day! Urgent visit to Oral/Maxillofacial Surgeon. Whatever my problem is (undiagnosed), now I need a special MRI and probably Arthroscopic surgery to the jaw. He also informed me I need to get back to the Endodontist: Severe right face pain as if someone has hit me with a brick. Most visits to Emergency for that particular pain says: Viral Illness/Myofacial Pain Syndrome. Maybe some good news: we called Blue Shield here in CA and they say calm down, we have to sel...

My heart goes out to each of you. I am not the one in my family who has Actinomycosis it is 16 year old daughter. I have submitted a brief diary submission on our ordeal. In fact we go to UVA today to see if she gets her picc line removed. Any advice or guidance you guys can share would be great. She entered this disease as a healthy athlete with great oral hygiene. This entered her body after having two wisdom teeth removed last summer. Thank goodness our family dentist referred us to UVA. They...

In my case 4/18/09, they did a colonoscopy and saw TONS of large abscesses. I actually woke-up and saw the tool in there biting them. It came back: NOT Chrohn's (which they were HOPING for) and not IBS. It didn't have Eosinophils (the yellow granules that will diagnose). The pathology said: some kind of cryptic cystitis. The gastro is STILL scratching his head.
The problem is, SINCE THOSE 22 BITES WERE TAKEN FROM MY GASTRO TRACT, I have been MORE SICK.
When they removed my Gallbladder 5/18/0...

So far no luck with a doctor. My Homeopathic is working on a contact here in Orange County, CA. He says a friend of his barely picked-up a dead bird by the wing to throw away. His insurance only covered a tiny hospital here: Chapman Medical Center, Chapman Ave, Orange (been there many times). He said they called in an infectious disease and the next thing you know, he is in the hospital for a month. Sounds like exactly what we need....

Dude. How are you?
I am going through the same thing. I think I am close to being diagnosed and it isn't that area of the body where the Eosinophil's are. I am losing body parts and they are finding foreign fatty substances in the body cavity.
I am about to have Pan Sinus Disease surgery. Lost the gallbladder last week. Scary. I'm hoping they find them in there. The biopsy and/or needle aspiration is such a sensitive test that it comes back BAD/Fibrous but unclear.
Keep wanting to send me to...

OK.
The No. 1 of all No.1 questions ;-)
"I can't seem to be able to respond to a post", "why can't I start a new discussion?".

At the top right of any page in the support group you'll see a button for "join this group". Once you press it, you're automatically a group member and able to join the discussions.

Try it ;-) now!

Waiting for No.2, Any more questions?
