Hi everyone I was diagnosed with acromegaly in February of this year, I never had any symptoms like headaches, blurred vision, fatigue and my hands and feet have been the same since I was a teenager , the only thing was that I developed a under bite witch I thought was do to my wisdom teeth but when i went to the oral surgeon he was concerned and had me get my gh levels checked. They came back high (8) so he told me to get a endo dr witch I did. Long story short he did blood work My Gh levels were like 8 and my igf1 levels were 596, he then set me up for a mri witch came back positive. I had a 2cm tumor witch I had removed on May 2 2011, my surgeon was confident that he removed all of it. On June2 my endo dr took more labs my hg levels dropped to 1.7 but my igf1 levels are now 617. So today I went back and did the glucose suppression test and also my Igf levels again . My question is has this happened to anyone and also is it to early to test the Igf1 levels. I forgot to say that Im a 35 year old male.

I don't think it's too early to test the IGF-1 levels. You may need an injectable medication called Somavert. Ask you endo about it. It controls the IGF-1 in the event that it is still high. Sorry this is so short, but I have to run.

Did you ever get your IGF-1 under control? Are you on any medication to regulate it?

According to the most recent literature; Growth hormone levels ahold drop literally within a day of surgery assuming the entire lesion was removed. iGF1 may tak 3 to 6 weeks to show significant decreases. Hope this helps.
