Sick Does anyone with acromegaly keep getting sick? I have consistent colds and sinus infections every two weeks. Also I have reflux everyday? Is this consistent with acromegaly?

Thanks for your help.

Hi It's Mollie again! Yes before I was diagnosed I used have a cold and problems with my sinuses on quite a regular basis, about once a month, and as far as I'm aware it is consistent with acromegaly. I used to get really tired very easily and feel like I was coming down with flu. Before the doctor knew it was acromegaly I was tested for glandular fever. I'd get to about 11am in the morning and feel totally shattered but hadn't really done much.

Try and rest up and don't get too tired as I find that's when I start to feel bad.

Not sure about the reflux - I've not suffered from this only whilst on some of the medication.

Regards

Smile

My husband hadn't experienced these things, but it sounds like someone has. Take all input to your advantage!

Hi Molly. I am in the process of getting diagnosed, but have a high IGF-1 level. I get sinus infection every 4-6 weeks and feel really tired by noon everyday. How did you get treatment?

Hi Molly,My husband has acromegaly he had surgery in December 2005 at University Of Virginia Medical center but the tumor had grown so large that they could not remove it completely. The doctor said that this is what has caused him to have problems with his sinuses and he also snores very loudly .He underwent Gamma-knife radiation and takes 2 injections daily of somavert. He says that he gets tired very easily. He also sweats profusely and cannot tolerate the heat in the summer.I really wish there was something to help him with this.
