How did your husband do with the surgery Tbeckner? (Sorry, haven't been on this for a very long time)
How big was his tumour?
What symptoms did he have?
Did he have acromegaly?
Had he been taking any medication before that?
If so, how much and for how long?
I heard those operations were extremely painful.
Is he fine now (I hope)?...

Forgot to mention, high calcium levels also, for no reason. Don't take calcium pills and don't drink milk. Fear parathyroid problems but I doubt calcium levels will be followed up very often....

Hi all. New member here :). I took a glucose tolerance test to check my gh level and one hour after I drank the drink my gh level tested at .2, the second hour is what up to 7.2. Is this normal? I know it says on my research it should fall below 1 which it did for the first hour but not the second hour draw. Does this mean I have acromegaly?...

So i suspect i might have acromegaly, but only on the right side of my body. As for my left side of my body its perfectly fine. The right side of my body seems to have the following typical acromegaly symptoms: large/wide skull on right side, protuding right jaw, right protuding eyebrow ridge, what looks to be skin tag on right side back of neck (not sure if its skin tags, could just be beauty marks buts its like 15 of them next to each other), large right side hand, large right side foot, and o...

My doctor's office does not let us make appointments with a particular nurse when we schedule our injection appointments. It's really a crap shoot which nurse I get. I started out with a nurse who was really good at giving the Sandostatin shots. Then, he moved on to other procedures and I never know which nurse I'm going to get.

Some nurses are pretty good at giving the shots (although none compare to the first nurse). Others, well, the injection site hurts for days afterwards. I don't mi...

Hi all, Ive been experiencing symptoms for a while now but only suddenly(in the last 6 months) did they intensify exhibit very characteristic facial features of acromegaly. So I begged my PCP for an igf-1 which was slightly elevated 342(range for age is 119-324) and was referred to an endocrinologist that did another igf-1 which was 577 only a few weeks after the initial one, this prompted a recheck(another igf-1) that was 487 then an oral glucose tolerance test that came out normal apparently...

Hi just wondered if anyone can shed some light on what might be going on with me? I have a raised IGF1 and BP3 but the doctors dont seem to know what to do with me now as the other tests they have done seem to be ok.

My IGF1 was 495ng/L (top of the range for my age is 280). My growth hormone suppresses with an OGTT and my growth hormone day curve was 'normal' although there was a peak level during it of 14ug/L but they have said this can happen. The other values were low with the highest bein...

Hi,
In Oct 2011 I lost my job of over 26 years due to down sizing at a hospital. Once I said the company names I could not get an appointment with a servance lawyer. It seems that some states do not want you to know this and you can not find this online. Watch how your servance is paid out, best to do a lump sum. Otherwise could loss your state disablity payments like I did. Here I worked in fiance and no one told me this knowing that I had disablity. I was diagonis with acromegaly on Dec 23, 2...

I was diagnosed with Acromegaly in 1984 6 weeks before my wedding. I was told I would never have children. In 1986 I had surgery after trying parlodel to remove the tumor. I never required replacement hormones and went on to have 2 children. In 2000 the tumor was back in a life threatening size so surgery again. Since that surgery I have been so unhealthy. I had female bleeding for 6 months straight with no help from the dr.s and never hungry, lost weight, hair and began to have fainting epis...
