Grey Day, Summer Pictures

Today is horribly, terribly grey, snirty, and blah!  It's nice and warm out.  We've seen loads of people out walkingtoday.  But the sky and the dirty, melting snow are oppressive and depressing!  So I dug out a few of my old summer photos to try to cheer myself up.  I took these at Barker's Island a few years ago.

The S. S. Meteor is the last surviving "Whaleback" ship, at least according to the brochures.  (You couldn't prove it by me.)  I just loved the shapes and the colors of the metal.  And the purple loostrife is so pretty I just had to take a picture of it.  It's a shame that it's such a pest.  It's an exotic species in Wisconsin, and it takes over, choking out the native wildflowers.

The flower garden stood next to the cruise boat ticket office.  They've since remodeled, so it doesn't exist anymore, even in the summer.  I miss it.  It was pretty.  And I love the sunset over the river!  I never get enough of that.  It's a whole lot cheerier than the clouds I see out my window today.

I don't want to sound like a whiner.  I'm having a reasonably nice day.  I got to sleep late this morning.  I moved some furniture around in the basement and cleared out a bit of junk.  I now have one neat little table and chair right under the stairs.  Mom and I have a place to sit down if we get dizzy while we're doing laundry, and a place to fold clothes.  I'm sore, but I'm also excited to have one tiny little area of the basement that's actually done!  And while I was down there, I started a load of laundry.  So, for me, I got a lot done today.  I'm just really sensitive to the weather.
