Stone Soup

A stone soup is made by putting a clean stone in a large pot and filling it with water. A fire is started and the pot is placed over it. Each person adds a vegetable or meat or whatever they bring. It becomes a soup and the taste reflects the ingredients brought to the soup by whomever chooses to contribute. My diary is a stone soup made from the encounters both good and bad of the day.

CHARACTER TRAITS THAT PISS ME OFF

Jun 20 2008

People who steal, lie, and cheat piss me off.  I cannot abide these people.  I have zero tolerance for them.

Recently, we noticed the fence cut on the back of my business.  Also, noticed the fuel in some of the trucks was missing from keeping  a spread sheet on usage.  I spent several hundred dollars to get locks for the trucks fuel tanks.  If I think someone is going to come and steal this fuel.  I am going to sit here with a shotgun and shoot them with bird shot.  I hate people who will steal.

Liars will steal.  Someone lies to me I am sure they would steal from me.  Lying is stealing the truth.

Cheaters are people who will try and manipulate things so that they win.  Not honestly because they are better at something, but, because they have to cheat to win.  They are too stupid, lazy, or ignorant to win honestly.  And they are bad sports.  I love winning but, only if it is an honest win.  I am extremely competitive but, want the person to be at the top of their form and then if I win it means something.  Beating someone by cheating is only cheating one's self.

Just venting here...now that feels better.

Lying, stealing, cheating. You're just not gonna get ahead in life that way.

Honesty, sincerity, empathy, compassion. Those will get you headed in the right direction.

Norma, you're really gonna have to keep an eye on that fuel these days. It almost isn't worth the cost of me driving to work.

Till next time,

Paul

People steal from the hotel too. EVERYTHING. Towels, washclothes, coffee makers....you name it. It costs THOUSDANDS to replace throughout the year. And it's not the usual suspects, it's wealthy university parents!! smilies/cry.gif

I should say that I'm shocked, but unfortunatly I'm not. I am so with you when it comes to liars. I feel if a person can't be honest then they are the real losers in life. I say go the old fashion way and shoot up with as much buck shot you can find! Love you to pieces Norma, Jeanne

So refreshing to hear that others value honesty too. Sometimes it gets discouraging to see all the cheating and lying out there. Your right its a character flaw, you either got it or you don't. Most of those I know who rely on cheating or lying to get by are weak people. It's easier to cheat/lie/steal than it is to do it right. They may get ahead at first but eventually it catches up with them and they fall back lower than they were. I was cheated on and lied to once, and it just incencese me when I see it. Norma, you are a class act. smilies/cheesy.gif

It's interesting that you are thinking about lying, cheating, and stealing.

I had been thinking along the same lines--thinking more about the artful packaging that comes with some lies, thefts, and cheating. ...thinking how even the most reasonable and honest person may at first embrace liars, thieves, and cheats--and I have done that.

But the "modus operandi" of liars, cheats, and thieves seldom survives a good hard look!

Thanks, Norma. smilies/wink.gif
I agree!

It seems the world today is filled with so much of this stuff then when sicere desncy comes by the world at times rejects it because they don't know what to think.. Keep an eye out . Hope it goes better.
100% in agreement, you hit it on the head

I think people think I am exagerating when I say I would rather be punched in the face than lied to. At least I will know it is coming and can attempt to protect myself. Lying is a cowards way.
Kimmie?

Hey, Norma, I almost thought it was Kimmie posting at first... smilies/cheesy.gif

Someone broke into my husband's shop in October 2006 and stole every power and air tool he had. Want to talk low life?--steal a man's tools that he makes a living with. Then they kept coming back trying to get into his trailers (which were empty). He actually stayed there a few nights with the dogs and a shotgun. I'm hoping they saw him cause it finally stopped about six months later.

P.S. One of the sheriffs who came out (repeatedly) told him that if he shot someone in the middle of the night trying to break in, it would be considered self-defense in Florida.

OMG! It is refreshing to read that there are others like me! I am in a relationship with a wonderful person, although am not sure how he got that way. His fam drives me crazy with begging from the churches to "help" pay THEIR bills, and then not using the money for what they have asked. Bouncing checks, left and right, and laughing about it. Stealing everything from various employers, including money (and she wants to be an accountant). The list goes on! I've often dreamt about faxing and posting flyers with her "story" all over town. Fortunately it is a very small town, and word travels fast...not fast enough! I know if I pulled this I'd be in jail...who do they think they are? There are even places that won't take her cash because she's burned them..then she has the nerve to call us and cry about her situation, not realizing that she is the one who put herself there. The fam will be the end of my love, and I just can't accept that..Makes my heart ache.
