The ins and outs of my crazy life.

newly diagnosed with gastroperesis

Jun 11 2010
I just went to the doctor today and had the gastric emptying study done today and was told that my stomache did not empty even close to ninety minutes that the test allows. It was taking much longer. I also suffer from bipolar and was told by the doctors that they believe my psych meds caused some of the slowing down of my food digestion and the diagnosis of gastroporesis. They told me that I need to change my entire diet. I need to change my diet to a liquid/very soft food diet because I get nauseaus after eating 5 or 6 bites of regular food and usually get sick. I am hoping to get some ideas of what I can eat and what I should stay away from from others out there who are suffering from this very thing. I hope to get some comments from others out there.

radical diet change is a must! Fats below 15% total, no raw veg or fruit, no high fructose corn syrup- eat natural & research GP diets on the internet- there are a lot of good examples & tips out there! Rice & potato based products are easier to digest too. For me it's tapioca & applesauce. smilies/tongue.gif
