Scutty's Tale

Went to see a Urologist Specialist on Friday 27th April and he told me that I had Penile Cancer. He said that I would be going to Morriston Hospital near Swansea UK for an Op. and that I would probably need cosmetic surgery. Previously my scrotum had started to swell when I stopped taking the antibiotic called ciprofloxacin. It became swollen so much that I called for an ambulance myself and was admitted to the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport. They gave me a drip of antibiotics for four days and eventually the swelling started to reduce. They sent me home witha catheter and I was to go back for further tests after 6 weeks. I am currently waiting for instructions about going to Swansea Hosp for my Op.

MRI Scan

May 16 2012
Had my first MRI scan today.  Had to place a piece of tape on the spot they were to concentrate on, i.e. the base of my scrotum where I'd had my abcess.  Then they gave me a cod liver oilcapsule to swallow, which I found difficult without a drink.  Was offered headphones with a choice of music.  An added luxury apparently.  Told to keep as still as possible and was given a panic button as it is a bit clostrophobic.

Went to Velindre Hospital today Thursday 25th October 2012 to see Dr Barber. After 5 weeks treatment of Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy it seems this hasn't worked and the cancer is STILL active and has spread from the penis to my bottom. Surgery is NOT an option as everything is STILL swollen. They are going to zap the four bumps on my bum and then discuss the possibility of some heavy duty Chemotherapy although the doctor didn't seem to have much faith in this treatment. Reading between the lines I could be on my out. TTFN
