MDJunction to me

fluffyluggage"I found MDJunction at a time when I was struggling with so much. I
was so sick. I found a home, a place where people understood me, when
even my family doubted me. In MDJ, I found a place of refuge, love,
and support. I come here daily, to find my balance, to cope, and to
find that same support I've found from day 1. MDJ is my new family.
The friends I've made here will remain with me for a lifetime.

When I was not medicated properly and adding to that self-medicating with alcohol (and perhaps too much of prescription drugs as well). I isolated and was anything but easy to be around. And "one is the loneliest number you'll ever do."

I'm opening up in A.A. and N.A. meetings when I can make them, and I see where it does nobody any good to not engage and share with others, and particularily with those who have "been there, done that" with regard to addiction issues.

Just Say "No."

Jul 01 2012

Responding to a person who felt pressure from his friends to have a drink!

One of the things I did when I decided to get sober (July 3 will be 6 months) was to choose a new circle of friends, ones that did not drink.  The people who drink can really exert pressure on you to drink (they don't want to have you be the "odd man out."

And another thing is to develop the ability to say, "No, thank you, but thanks for asking."  In that way, you are making "saying no" and doing so in a tactful way.

And concerned about becoming violent; that just makes sense!  More fights and scuffles occur during drinking and drugging than in any other way!

Nancy Reagan used to have a one-liner that was priceless:  "Just say 'no'."
