Diary and PM update

Hi Everyone, I hope this finds YOU in good health & spirit!

Today we launched a few upgrades that, as always, were requested by your fellow members and are all improvements of your user experience.

Diary section

Privacy. So many members asked for this... we had to do it ;-)

you can now choose Who can read your diary:: Anyone, Only Members, Only My Friends or Only me. make your choice on who should see your personal thoughts.

Delete comments. You can now delete any comment someone writes on your diary entries. Total control of your own domain.

PMs

Check boxes were added to the left of each PM in the main PMs page. The top box will allow you to choose all or none & at top right you now have an ‘actions' drop down to make the ones you choose marked as read, delete, email and more.

We also added the archive option to all PM pages (not only in the PMs). As you know PMs are deleted from the inbox after 30 days, archiving will allow you to keep them forever!

At the ‘compose' option in the PM section we added an auto complete option. If you start writing the name of the friend you wish to write to - the system will complete and allow an easier way to write a PM.

I'm sure you'll enjoy these new improvements & we do want you to keep sending us your ideas on how to make MDJunction a better place for YOU!

On another note.. I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of our MDJ Advocates :kiss:

I am sure many of you have noticed the rise in activity (which is almost site wide) over the last few months. When trying to trace the origin of that we predict that a lot of it is the result of the great work done by our Advocates! Our advocates have been talking about us in facebook, yahoo. In their doctors' office, fliers & recently even making sure we're rightly mentioned in Wikipedia !!

If you didn't get the chance to tell us how you advocate for MDJ pls go to MDJ Advocates fill the form & give us the chance to honor you with the advocate badge ;-)

Hi Roy, I am not sure if you are the original founder of this site but well done, it really is a life-saver and a strong barrier against the insanity our lives become whenever we are struck with one of these awful diseases or have loved ones who are suffering. Sometimes it's hard to tell who actually suffers the most. I will say that apart from Webmd, I had never recommended a site to any-one but after joining MDJ, i feel it would be doing suffering people a great injustice not to make them aware of this amazing site. I whole-heartedly recommend it to family friends and any-one who I talk to who has some kind of problem. Any way, I just want to thank you and and thank you and thank you lol. smilies/grin.gif

Thanks for the update info, Roy.

I was visiting my sugeon, Dr. Perry for a 6 month check-up after decompression surgery, and was able to share MDJunction info with 2 other patients in the waiting room. When I mentioned the site to Dr. Perry, he liked what I was able to share with him about the site. He made a note to look into the site, and to share the info with his patients as a great place to share info, experiences, etc. Thanks for all of your work on the site!! We appreciate you!!

I really appreciate you making the changes. I read on Quackwatch just yesterday, that researchers there, use these sites to get information about the Patient's medications,symptoms we experience, and our doctors advice we discuss from those of us suffering from Lyme disease, (maybe other disease as well) and then use it against us and the doctors who try to treat us. This will allow us to keep it confidential so it does not come up in an internet search. We need all the help we can get,fighting the disease is bad enough! Thank you for what you do for us to give us a safe place to heal. God bless you and your beautiful family.

Thank you Roy, for the update, and making it SO easy to get into the site (as I ALWAYS forget what I used for a password!) Your little girl, is quite a cutie pie, can I special order 1 just like her??? LOL My mind is like an ADHD child, and it just won't shut down to sleep, drives me crazy! I finally got approved for disability, and have to wait another 7 months for Medicare to kick in--someone forgot to mention there is a 5 month waiting period AFTER they determine a date (they choose) they THINK you became disabled, then AFTER that 5 months, you wait another 24 months. WHY, could they say it will be 29 months before Medicare kicks in? I've been waiting since 2008, they determined 2009, I won't have coverage until Jan. 2012! Hope I don't die waiting for coverage! NO MEDICAID...once you get a lump sum payment, so I don't qualify for ANY help, from ANY government agency, and that lump sum, isn't enough to cover paying the entire medical bill for NEEDED surgery! Yup, this is cruel, and abusive to the disabled. I throw up my swelled up hands, and pray I can hold on, while the tumor grows, as it has for probably (over) 10 yrs! UGH, too tired to fight, it is just a losing battle. Governors, congressmen/women, didn't do a thing! Obama-care may come quicker!????

thank you for the info. I have not visited this site in some time as my computer crashed and am just getting life back in order. When I first joined it was in search of support and understanding of my PTSD from a cat 5 hurricane. The new hurricane season has just gotten underway and my nerves are still a mess so I am sure you will see me back on this site numerous times. Big hugs to all those who have been there for me.

Thanks Roy, I'm very new, only joined the Parkinson's group on 1st June. I've still not received any messages from an y one other than my faithful group leaser - Songfellow. I've tried so many ways but can't figure out how to add to my diary - I know it must be simple but even going to h elp didn't help smilies/sad.gif

appreciate if u send me guidelines, internet connections in Sri Lanka where I live is the pits cos I'm in a remote hilly area, far away from civilisation - not the best for my Parkinson's I'm told but I love my home.
