Empowered

Jul 17 2012

I never thought I would live long enough to hear someone else say what I have been feeling all along.

Hallelujah!

Dram Shop Laws

Jul 14 2012

Living in Ohio we have the Dram Shop Law which makes bars somewhat responsible for serving alcohol to their patrons who have obviously already had too much.

Trouble is from whatI've been reading the burden of proof falls on the one who is accusing the bar of wrong doing.

Ok, I know that makes sense but it becomes a 'he said she said.' And with the burden

Options

Jul 09 2012

Families of those who suffer with addiction need more options.

HIPPA Laws get in the way.  Help usually comes by way of punishment. Jail, prison, forced rehab.

What if there was realhelp out there?

Starting with the avaliablity of alcohol.  What if alcohol wasn't sold at almost every grocery store, gas station, drug store, meat market, deli-what have you?  E

Hot

Jul 07 2012

It is unbelievably hot where I live.  A heat wave.  Tomorrow has the promise of a  break in the heat.

The heat is thankfully just a bump in the road for me. I know formany this heat wave is costly, it has turned deadly for some.  But for me this too will pass.

For this I am blessed.

My son's addiction is not so certain

Wet Houses and Recovery

This concept is something new to me.

I first heard the term 'wet house' a week or so ago.  In case you haven't heard a  wet house is a permanent residence for menand women who are chronically homeless and suffer with addiction. It saves the state money, it puts a roof over someone's head who has been living on the streets and is chronically addicted.

Another Day

Jun 27 2012

I'm a journaler - hmm is that a real word ?

To help sort through the chaos the past several years I've journaled.  I keep my notebooks for years sometimes and then out of the blue I decide to read through them all at once, get the shredder out and then poof their gone.  Out of sight - out of mind.

Sometimes my journal only lasts a few months.

Hey, it

Tired

Jun 25 2012

Got a call at 12:45am.  Our son needed a ride from where he had been at most of the day and since we needed to get our sleep I went and got him and went back to bed. Much easier than just turningthe phone off - I never would have been able to get back to sleep then.  Sleep didn't come easy though when I got back ( just 20 mins. later) and I'm exhausted.

I found a blog ab

One more time

Jun 22 2012

Every time I get stuck I try to reach out but honestly self help and support groups really suck don't they.  Not completely but really who wouldn't want personal, daily help - professionalhelp?  Someone who says I'm with you - I will help you every step of the way - I know things you haven't heard of before...

Wouldn't that be nice?  Like once I heard ab
