I'm 31, and have been battling left side ON for 9 months now, the last 5 months everyday, all the time... It's the most debilitating and excrutiating pain I have ever felt. I was in 3 major car accidents in 1998, and twice in 2000. The most detrimental being my head on collission in '00, over time I have lost the lordosis in my cervical spine causing severe paraspinal muscle spasms. I was in PT, chiro, massage therapy , etc for 4 years. ...

So, had my second selective nerve root block on Jan 26th, this time for C3. I woke up from anesthesia feeling much better then the C2 selective root block. I was so elated I felt like going to the malland shopping my butt off or even doing zumba! Lol! That's how great I felt! ZERO pain upon awakening. It is a pretty noninvasive procedure and you go home that day after recovering, which is nice. This procedure was on a Thursday. I was pain free until Tuesday July 31st when I started noticing [...]

I was sitting here and thought of making a list of all the medications that I have tried for my left sided occipital neuralgia over the past 9 months.. I pretty much have hated them all, some made me have bad thoughts (the anticonvulsants). The side effects for most of them are worse than taking the drug and having ON in general! lol

1. Neurontin (used for nerve pain)

2. Lyrica (anticonvulsant-used for nerve pain)

3. Nortriptyline (TCA)

4. Flexeril (muscle r [...]

Met with the Cedars team today, Jan. 13th about how the procedure went. It was the first time in 5 months that I had almost zero pain for 3 days immediately following the procedure. The pain had returnedand I was very upset about it, but anesthesia was not. They were very pleased (meaning, it had worked by numbing the root cause of my occipital neuralgia). I am scheduled to have a second selective C2 and C3 nerve root block under general on Jan. 26th by the Chief of neuro there. I wish I didn&#3 [...]

Well the procedure went well, awoke with neck stiffness. The facet block was performed on the left side of my neck, I lied face down and was sedated with propofol so didn't feel a thing. Just a littlenausea when awakening but was home after two hours. It has been hard to sleep with the collar and the second day I had a new unexpected excrutiating pain to my right shoulder, down my arm and numbness to my last two digits...found out I have a herniated C6 disc as well:( so my pain from my ON ha [...]
