My Dr is finally going to put in a port-a-cath. I am a terrible terrible stick. My arms look as if they have been driving nails in them from missed attempts for blood draws and IV sites. This will hopefullyprovide some comfort. I get stuck a minimum of 5 times per week and I am over it... My 3 day hospital stay bought me 22 needle sticks... Tell me good idea or bad idea just leave a comment with the choice bad or good and explain your answer.. Thanks your thoughts are important to me..

I spent a month and half in the hospital and felt like a voodoo doll after the first week. My veins are so scarred and inaccessible now I would get a port right away if I had to go in again. For minor stays I have a tri-port put in my neck which helped as a temporary relief. The worst event was having a pick line put in it took seven tries, left my arm hamburgered and got infected the next day and had to be removed. Go for the port especially if you get regular infusions like remicade. Best of luck!!!

My 15 year old daughter is getting a port-a-cath
she takes i.v. injections every 3 months
and two weeks ago when she was in the hospital she had alot of trouble with her veins in her arms as she always does!
So her doc said next time she comes in for her treatment of Permidronate she will have a small operation to install her port-a-cath.
My sister had one for her iv treatments and so did my aunt but when they got theirs they where awake!
I told the doc to put my baby to sleep,
So he is!
But i think it will be good for U as well!
