Did you notice the changes in your skin before the doctor examined you? How long have you been on both the Plaquenil and the antibiotic?
written by avsgirl19, November 17, 2009
Yes I noticed that I wasn't getting new breakouts on a daily basis. I have been on Plquenil anf the antibiotic for about 3 months now and I need to keep taking them for at least another 3 -6 months. I still have spome breakouts but not llike I did before. Stress makes me break out and after my car accident a few weeks ago I had a really bad breakout on my neck and on my left leg and my back - but they were not as severe as others that I have had. Let me know if you have any other questions.

What wonderful news! I've tried looking back to see which antibiotic you're taking and at what dosage to no avail. Which one are you taking? What is the dosage?

This reminded me of the story of a woman diagnosed with Prurigo Nodularis (looks very similar to LP) who finally got relief 8 years later from IV Vancomyacin. Turns out she had MRSA all along and had never had a culture done on her lesions.
The reason I bring this up is that I had a slight remission a year ago after being on clindamycin for 4 weeks. I couldn't get the doctor to continue the antibiotic at the dosage I had been taking. I have had cultures done and been diagnosed with penicillin resistant staph secondary to the lichen planus. I've been doing much better since starting the Soriatane but I had also been taking penicillin for the past month. Just makes you go HMMMM!
