MDJunction to me

saralaurie"In the 3 months I have been with MDJunction I have developed a sense of calmness. I now friends who do not judge me because I have been a mental mess at times. It is such a good feeling to have friends I can tell my deepest thoughts and always get back to me with their support. I have never seen a therapist for long periods of time. Right or wrong, this is the best therapy possible for me. Thanks Roy for getting this up and running and making such a difference in my life. Sara" (saralaurie)

Jane's Swagger and Stagger

Before my diagnosis, I considered learning to talk like a pirate and calling myself an eccentric for being mentally foggy and weaving all over the place. Now I know it isn't just "my personality."

Beware of head colds!

May 19 2013

Friends, I have a head cold now... be sure to wash your hands, avoid touching your face, and try your best to stay away from cold germs. It definitely doesn't help MD symptoms to have a head cold on top of them!

Take care and best of luck through the springtime allergy and cold season!

Vinpocetine and the Yearlong Antibiotic Treatment

Apr 16 2013

Hi all, Jane here again.  I wanted to check in and let you know the latest.

Based on some advice from my acupuncturist, I've started having goji berries every day with hot tea. She said it would help my kidneys, which would in turn help my ears. So, I am doing that. Every day.

I have continued with the high amounts of vitamin C and added the supplement Vinpocetine to see if...

Vitamin C to the Rescue

Feb 15 2013

Hi Friends:

It's been a long time since I've been online here. Things have been going better for the most part- I've simplified my life, moved closer to work, and.... if things go well, may have found a better and more flexible job. Well, at least it will pay better, and the benefits are better too! So I am holding my breath- the MD diagnosis came up in my pre-employment physi...

http://www.carliniinstitute.com/how_recent_solar_flares_are_affecting_us

I've had a few friends tell me that solar flares are associated withvertigo, somehow.

I wonder if it's a coincidence that I had such an attack this spring, while the sun's been a-flaring. Honestly, I've had a healthy life, so when the vertigo sta...

Exercise really has helped the symptoms

Jul 07 2012

It seems counterintuitive to tell someone who gets dizzy all the time to exercise more, but it seems to have worked out for me lately.  A month ago, I was hauling out the heavy headache medicine, but I haven't needed that, or vertigoheel, yet.  I'm taking lots of breaks but exercising nevertheless. It's the only way to get things going for me.

I'm not sure...

Water retention is no bueno

Jun 18 2012

If I were a man, I'd be much further ahead by now. My sodium intake is under control, and goodness knows I haven't gone near a rum (alcohol) and coke (caffeine) drink in months. But there's this thing that we women go through about every 25-30 days that causes water retention.  For me, it happens not only in my body but in my head/ inner ear. This leads to headaches, vertigo, a...

THIS is why we are all so anxious

May 20 2012

My doctor, in response to my most recent crying jag, told me, "You know, this is typical for patients with Meniere's."  "What?" I cried. "This is awful. I don't want my life to be like this. Everything is such a struggle."

She explained that when we have swelling due to Meniere's, this puts pressure on the brain in the exact area that g...
